The Cubs have Zambrano, Hill and Lilly pitching a series against a Reds team missing Griffey and Dunn. If the Cubs suck bad enough to blow that opportunity, then it's not even worth my time getting upset about it.

This man speaks the truth.

This is somewhere along the lines of how I feel.

Thank goodness I still have UCLA football and the Bears.

That's what I tell myself too. They'll blow it though, and I'll be back next Spring for another year of punishment.

It makes sense, but when all is said and done, it won't ease the pain. At all.

There is nothing in the sports world that could begin to relieve the pain if the Cubs blow this thing.

Duke Football bowl win would.

I agree with XZero. In 2006, when the Cubs were 0-for-the last five months of the season, I was able to get it all out of my system, walk away, and not care about how badly that season blew. That's when I was actually able to not be upset by a string of September losses.

This year, Cubs win 10 of 12, I score playoff tickets, their lead increases to 3.5 games, I buy plane tickets, they're six games away from storming into the playoffs on the heels of a VERY successful September. No amount of rationalization, alcohol, or heroin injected into the forehead would dull the pain if the Cubs were to lose out and miss the playoffs.

Were we the only ones who knew that if Jones didn't swing the bat at all Pinto would have walked him? Does Lou have or know what a take sign is?

Someone said in the gamethread that even if the sign for "take" was shown all the way, Jacque couldn't resist the urge to flail helplessly at pitches.

I really would love to have anybody else out there. Even a Felix Pie who isn't ready yet, he strikes out, don't get me wrong, be he also has some idea of what approach is.

Ok guys, I'm sick of seeing "Marlins."

I would prefer not to have to see or think of "Marlins" until next April.

Can we kindly let this thread sink into oblivion?

This might be the funniest thing I have heard all day.

I would prefer not to see the Marlins ever again. Move them to Las Vegas or the AL. Or both.
