Did I think it was time for Sammy to go after the 2004 walkout....yes.

Would I want my son to idolize Sammy...no.

Was Sammy's corked bat and steriod suspicion a kick in the nuts....yes.

But I will stand and cheer when he hits #600, and part of me wants him to do it against the Cubs so I can see it live. We all know Sammy is far from perfect, but he brought me the most enjoyment I've had as a Cubs fan during the past 30 years. And I've been pleased to see him rebound nicely this year, he deserved better than what happened in 04 and 05.

No, I won't be cheering. I'm sure as heck hoping that he doesn't get it against the Cubs, but it's pretty much written in stone.

As long as he does it against another team, I'd be happy for him. Like him or not, steroids or not, corked bat or not, 600 home runs is still a fantastic achievement.

Of course he will hit 600 against us.

Just another swift kick in the nuts from the Sisters Fate.

As for how i will feel:

Susanna: I’m ambivalent. In fact that’s my new favourite word.

Dr. Wick: Do you know what that means, ambivalence?

Susanna: I don’t care.

Dr. Wick: If it’s your favourite word, I would’ve thought you would…

Susanna: It means I don’t care. That’s what it means.

Dr. Wick: On the contrary, Susanna. Ambivalence suggests strong feelings… in opposition. The prefix, as in “ambidextrous,” means “both.” The rest of it, in Latin, means “vigor.” The word suggests that you are torn… between two opposing courses of action.

Susanna: Will I stay or will I go?

Dr. Wick: Am I sane… or, am I crazy?

Susanna: Those aren’t courses of action.

Dr. Wick: They can be, dear - for some.

Susanna: Well, then - it’s the wrong word.

Dr. Wick: No. I think it’s perfect.

And just for Raisin (as ambivalent is a big word: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/ambivalent)

i'm not going to jump up and shout or clap at all, but i will think about how nice it must feel to be a major league player and achieve such a feat.

It wouldn't be wild, uncontrolled cheering like it was for all 500-something HRs he hit with the Cubs, but I would definitely be on my feet and clapping if I were at the game.

Also, count me in the group of people who would only be happy about it if it were a solo shot in the late innings of a 12-1 Cubs win.

If I were at the game and caught his home run ball..... I'd have to consider throwing it back.

If it was at Wrigley, I suppose it would be kind of cool if he hit it there considering there are still many fans that will always cherish his Cub days. Because it will be in Arlington, I'd rather he did it against someone else.

I'm somewhat apathetic about it though.

I guess with my username it is fairly obvious that I will cheer. Not gonna go crazy or anything but I would definitely let out a WOOT or two.

But yeah, I'd much prefer it to be part of a Cubs blowout victory. I'm not losing sight of what's important here. 8-)

If it's close either way no. If were killing them or they are killing us yes. Here's to sammy hitting another worthless homer.
