If he wants to stay this bad he should give us a bigtime discount and just sign a Rameriz type contract or whatever we throw at him..

But does Zambrano even want to come back?

"Of course," he said. "I was born here, I grew up here, I want to die here. I want to finish my career here. That's all I want."

I think something like that would piss Z off. I know it shouldn't, especially if he had a chance at making a World Series run and then resigning with us, but I could see that bruising his ego.

If you talk to him beforehand, he could understand. Show him how the same thing happened to Ponson.

Z doesn't really REALLY want to stay here, he was just saying that so he could get a contract signed...

blah...trade his lillylivered ass

I think we should trade him. With the way he throws and his size he is an injury wating to happen. I say get a lot for him at the deadline and go from there.

that's gotta make his agent cringe.

He'll probably slam his agent into a locker as well.

What a fitting comeuppance for Boras that would be. Beaten to an inch of his life by his own maniacal client.

I thought Z wasn't with Boras anymore?

Well, maybe Krazy Z doesn't remember he got rid of Boras and will beat him within an inch of his life anyway.

You're right, he's now with Barry Praver. Coincidentally, Praver is also Sidney Ponson's agent.

Well, you could do that, and maybe that would help him understand. But I belive you'd also be getting close to illegal collusion there.

I'm not saying you draw up a contract and wait until the offseason for him to sign it. But if you talk to him and say that even though we're trading you, we still would like to bring you back if you go to free agency, then you have a great shot considering all that Carlos has said about wanting to stay in Chicago.

That's because he won't get any money anywhere else.

I hope you are kidding, cause if not thats not true at all. Teams will be lining up to pay him

Everything pisses Z off. I don't think worrying about Z's ego being bruised is a good policy for this franchise.

I think the only reason he's saying he really wants to stay here is because he's still here. I think that as soon as he's traded, he loses any sort of hometown feeling for the Cubs and would go directly to the highest bidder, likely the Mets.

I definitely agree. Zambrano is likely trying to earn the love of his teammates back after acting like a complete ass and buffoon on Friday. One way to do that is to reiterate how much he likes it in Chicago and wants to be a Cub, yada, yada, yada.

My guess is the same as yours. As soon as he has a different set of teammates, all that is out the window.

I don't think you let Z feed what its like to be on another team. If you want him, then you'll have to pay him in FA. All he knows is the cubs, and I'm sure on some level he likes that comfort. If you let him go to a playoff team for a run, he'll want that.
