Ok, here is the way I see it. We get some time on the road to ge tback on track this next week. I see a 4-2 road trip. If we can pull that off, then we come home to play the Nationals (which I will be at on Fri and Sat 8-) ). So we come home and sweep them and we are now right back to .500.

I know this may sound overly optimistic, but I am really just growing to trust Lou--he is not afraid to do things as he showed by putting Theriot at SS yesterday.....I just feel like we have had a lot of misfortune and it is about to turn around. Only time will tell I guess

I think I'd like to see this team start having the slightest bit of offensive consistency before I think they can win a series.

I don't know about getting back to .500 that soon, but the Cubs have a perfect opportunity to win a lot of games over the next two weeks. 12 games vs teams that are all below .500. Win 8 of those and the Cubs are 16-17 going into Philly, a sub .500 team itself that's off to a streaky start, and looking good right now.

After these twelve, the Cubs play 16 games against some really challenging competition.

Now is the time to strike.

So perhaps the next 12 games might be the season?

That largely will depend on what other teams in our division do over the same period. Unfortunately, the Cubs haven't played well enough to control their own destiny, at least at this very early point.

Again, I don't think a season is over until at least Memorial Day.

No. It's just a great opportunity to take a little pressure off the rest of the season. They could go 6-6 or 7-5, and pretty much be in the same spot, not out of it, but not quite "in it" either. They could go 5-7 and then rip off a great stretch against Philly, NYM, CWS, SD and LA.

Or they could got 10-2, then turn right around and go 4-12 and be right where they are right now.

I was kind of thinking win the next 4 to get back to .500 myself.

Win 4, get one for free 8-)

Something like that. No doubt the team is due for a 6 game win streak or better.

Oh, God. Are we doing this again?

Already?

I was thinking the same thing!

It's frustrating to have to see threads such as this.

Note: not knocking the posters, just the fact that Cub fans are again predicting how soon the team can get back to .500 baseball.

Like I said only time will tell, but there are a few of you who are going to eat crow if I am correct. I just dont think we are playing bad baseball--we are losing yes, but not playing that poorly--I think there are better days ahead. I dont know--maybe I am wrong, but I just feel like we are moving in the right direction. I will be happy to admit I am wrong in a week if I am. that is the fun of making a prediction--might be right, but might be wrong--we will see

best sentence EVAR!!!

seriously though, i think they will be over .500 pretty soon and have been playing well enough to be over it. i'm just scared of our pitching staff, homeruns and summer in wrigley.

I don't think we're all saying you'll be wrong. But we had a series of threads like this all season last year, so there's some comedy in this....even if you didn't mean it to be funny.

I remember a thread last year that said "OH man, we only have to win 66% of our games to get back to .500 by september!"

Oh wow, thats so easy, only a few historically great teams ever did it before!

You guys need to stop changing your names to ubiquitous first names and/or random Colts players.

Seriously, its getting hard to keep track who is who.
