dew, since you are the resident Titans fan how do you feel about my selection of Carriker?

I like Carriker, but I feel if we go for an end it should be Charles Johnson. Maybe its because I've seen more of him, but I've been more impressed by him than Carriker.

As far as prioritizing needs, I'd say number one need is receiver. David Givens hasn't been healthy since he put on a Titan uniform and Drew Bennett is now a Ram, so the best receiver we have active is Brandon Jones.

I would absolutely love to see us trade up to the top of the draft and grab Calvin Johnson, but understand that is very highly unlikely. Realistically I want either Meachem or Ginn. I don't like Jarrett one bit - especially after his horrendous offseason - and think Meachem can be a similar receiver to Donte Stallworth (a healthy version) and Ginn would not only be an offensive playmaker but also make up for the likelihood of losing Pacman on special teams.

I'd go either end or corner in the second round.

With the 22nd pick, the Dallas Cowboys select Dwayne Bowe, WR LSU.

With the Cowboys addressing their issues at safety by signing Ken Hamlin, they can turn their attention to the offense. With both Owens and Glenn in their mid-thirties, the Cowboys need a yound receiver. Bowe has great size and hands and is an ideal pick here.

Homer! J/k Vance, I agree with a WR there and I like Bowe but I like Meachem a little more.

I checked a number of sites and most had Bowe ranked higher than Meacham or Jarrett. It was down to those three, and the average ranking of the sites I checked had Bowe higher.

As the other resident Titans fan, I feel a bigger need is at WR. They have absolutely no depth there and I can almost definitely see them taking Meachem or Jarrett.

Though, nothing against your pick. They do need a good pass rusher.

What we really needed to do was bring back Bennett, but I'm not terribly upset after seeing the contract he signed.

It'll be tough for us to compete next season, I'm afraid.

I thought about putting Meachem #1 over Carriker, but because of the horrible defense last year I decided to go there first. The drop off between the 1st and 2nd rounds for DEs and WRs also influenced my decision. There is a good possibility of Steve Smith, Jason Hill, and Sidney Rice still being there in the 2nd round.

They are the reason I'm very tempted to prefer defense in the first round, but I think the guys in the first round (Bowe, Calvin, Meachem, Ginn) are more likely to have more of an impact now. The others still have some developing to do.

Yeah, I cried a little when I saw that Bennett signed with the Rams. I'll admit it. He was my favorite Titan. At this point, Vince Young has no one to throw to. Heck, even Bobby Wade left (signed with my other favorite team, the Vikings, who I'm drafting for).

In my opinion the loss that hurt us the most was Travis Henry. I really think he could have been very valuable next season since Vince 1. won't have anyone to throw to and 2. isn't a great passer at this point anyway.

I'm extremely worried about LenDale carrying the whole load and don't like the idea of spending two picks on another running back (Michael Turner). We had the money, we should have kept Travis.

I was just trying to give you a hard time since Bowe is from LSU, I've got no problems with the pick. I think most sites are a little down on Meachem because he's only had 1 good year, and he is not known as a very tough or physical receiver. I think he's got better physical tools and upside, but Bowe is solid as well.

BTW how did he do catching the ball this year? I know that he had problems holding on to the ball in the past, but he had LASIK surgery this past offseason; did that really help him?

I know, that was dumb. We should have held on to him. He really helped take the weight off Young's shoulders last year. LenDale is overweight again and doesn't have the attitude and motivation needed. Now I see Chris Brown might re-sign, but I thought he hated it here. Nonetheless, we should have kept Henry.

He usually made the catches when he had to. I think he has development, but he has the size to be a very good possession reciever.

The Kansas City Chiefs select: Alan Branch, DT Michigan

While they just added Alfonso Boone to the D-line, Branch provides another massive body in run prevention and him falling all the way to 23(he's been going top 10 in most mocks) is too much for KC to pass up.

At this point I wouldn't mind having Chris Brown back, but I'm surprised he and the club didn't burn too many bridges.

I have to say, I'm not thrilled with the Reinfeldt era right now.

Neither am I. It's still early on, but it's off to a rocky start.

With the 24th pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select:

LB Lawrence Timmons- Florida State University

Pats are old at LB. Timmons is very raw, but has the highest upside of any LB in the draft. He would be learning behind a veteran group that includes A. Thomas, Colvin, Vrabel and Bruschi.

BRANDON JONES

He's actually played fairly well for us and I think he'll develop into a second or third receiver. Problem is, right now he's our #1 and that's just too high.

This is almost taking as long as the 1st round of the actual draft.
