perhaps the thread title should be changed again

He's an eagles fan, I'm not sure that he knows how to read.

And to think that at first, I actually wanted to do all 7 rounds of this.

This sucks.... this is such a great idea. Why cant people just check at least once to see where they draft?

It was moving for a while.........we might get 2 rounds done.

Sorry... what happened to PM'ing people after making your pick?

I have to look at who's been taken... I should be able to go in the next half hour or so.

Yikes, I assumed someone had PMed you.

Can we make it a rule that the person who makes the most recent pick PMs the next person?

Safety Michael Griffin, Texas

Very nice pick. He's a sick all purpose secondary player. Super athlete.

With the 27th Pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Greg Olsen, TE, from the University of Miami.

Clearly the Saints biggest need is at the cornerback position, where Freddie Thomas needs to be put out to pasture after his abysmal season last year where he gave up 14 TD's. 10 of which were over 25 yard passes. However, the Saints still feel that they can address this need via free agency or via a later round as high end CB rookies are notoriously bad as it takes a few years to be a good NFL CB.

Thus, the Saints choose to fill the only hole in their offense: TE. At 6'5, 250lbs+, and running a 4.5, Olsen gives Brees a fast and big target that can stretch defenses that are already stretched out due to the speed of Reggie Bush and Deverey Henderson.

I've got to ask what you think about picking up Olindo Mare from the Dolphins for a sixth round pick.

In real life, I don't think Olsen gets to the 27th pick. I actually considered him, but safety is a bigger need since we already have L.J. Smith, and Griffin is a real good player.

There was also a WR who I considered... surprised he's not off the board yet. I could definitely see whoever drafts for the Chargers grabbing him.

Yeah, I'm looking at him. I also was considering Griffin too, jerk.

You don't want him-you really don't want him :D

To let everyone know, I'm driving out of state in the morning-I will be in to a computer again, but I will be without any access for several hours. I was hoping my pick would come by tonight, but if my pick does not come up in the next 2-3 hours then I'll pick as soon as I can (tomorrow afternoon-early evening)

Edit: If it's the particular receiver I'm thinking of anyway-which my guess is that it is, but I realized that there could be 2-3 different receivers that would fit in the Chargers better than this receiver, and so now I'm not sure.

Eh..it's ok. I'm not overly impressed with his numbers, aside from the fact that he's got a ton of range. 62-85 from 40+yds and 14-30 from 50+yds. Jon Carney was getting old. I think he was 43 or something, so even though he's very good, he's becoming a liability due to his age. So I guess it's an ok pickup.

It's just a sixth rounder, so it's not like you're giving up much in any case. I've always liked Mare, though I'll admit I don't know his numbers real well.

I know who you're talking about (and Truffle) - he's not necessarily the Chargers type of WR, but I think he'd fit in well with their offense.

With the 27th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select:

S Brandon Merriweather- U of Miami

Character issues, but may be the 2nd best safety in the draft. Pats need a S with Rodney Harrison aging and injury prone. I went with need over best player available.

Very solid pick in my opinion.

I never understood the "best player available" strategy. I mean, even if Adrian Peterson is still on the board at 14, would it really make sense for Carolina to pick him, already having Foster and Williams? You can always spin off the pick to someone who wants AD at that spot - it's not like there would be a shortage of teams to pick from.

I only agree with it if there's no obvious need or if it's just silly where you're taking the kid - Peterson available in the early part of the second round for instance.

I had my draft board. And the only true needs I saw for the Pats were LB (inside or out) and safety. I had Poz, Timmons, and Beason as the 3 LBs and Griffin and Merriweather at S. I think if the Pats can somehow get Pozlusny and Griffin, they would have the best draft in the league.

There has to be a limit to the BPA strategy, and you're right that you cannot pick BPA in football as much as some of the other sports. With so many football picks being busts though, if you have a player who you rate much higher than anybody else on your board, it makes sense to take him-rosters fluctuate so much that you usually can find a spot for them to play. That isn't the case at QB, OT if both your tackles are secure, and S if you have two great safeties, but every other position I think you can work players in somewhere. Now, if two players are similar, you always want to have need be the deciding factor on anything that is anywhere near a close call.

Of course-I'm biased because the Colts have taken two offensive guys in the first round in the last 6 years, and have been criticized for it badly because they didn't draft for the obvious need on their defense-those two were Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark, who were not needed at the time but now are integral parts of the team.

I am going out of town the next 6 days so someone is going to have to pick up the rest of the rams pick for me.

I'm willing if doubling up is ok at this point.

At this point I think that the 5 people still checking this thread could all triple up and it would be ok.
