I was thinking the same. If the Bears win on Sunday, imagine what the Super Bowl thread is gonna be like...especially when you factor in the bye.

It just occurred to me how ridiculous it's going to be on here if the Bears do make the Super Bowl, and that led to me realizing it's going to be 20-30 times as crazy if the Cubs ever make the playoffs again...

Agreed. As much as I love the Bears, and I really do love the Bears, simply seeing the Cubs make the playoffs would be just a little better.

So apparently Shawn Payton's sister & neice live here in Skokie.

Heh, small world.

I believe it's "Sean" and not "Shawn." And if memory serves me correct but didn't Sean Payton used to be the Bears QB during the strike shorting season back in the 80s, under Mike Ditka?

I hate to say it, but I'm becoming a bandwagon Bears fan. Maybe not one who would ever jump off the Bandwagon, but there definately my 2nd favorite team simply because of NSBB and the whole Chicago thing.

Looks like Tim Duncan will be cheering on the Bears on Sunday:

Perhaps it wasn't the most motivated and focused Spurs team. They left San Antonio late Sunday afternoon because Duncan, a devoted Bears fan, asked the team to remain on the tarmac until the end of the NFC semifinal as he followed the updates on his computer.

"Growing up in the [Virgin] Islands, we didn't have a team, so I chose the Bears," Duncan said. "NFC championship, a chance to go to the Super Bowl. It's great, a change from the past."

Why wasn't the Bulls good, when he was a FA? Damn you Krause.

IDK about that. It would be close. The Cubs making the World Series would have more of a Surreal feel to it, but the excitement of either team making the "Pinnacle" of their sports championships games, would blow Chicago to the moon.

And I hope I live long enough to see both happen, again.

You know...we could always have a thread during the week and open a new thread on game day?

No? That would make too much sense? Ok.

You're right. Sean, Shawn, whatever. But yea, he was a scab QB that year and he actually played against the Saints as a spare Bear.

I'm actually from Skokie, but currently reside in Arlington Heights.

It seems like only yesterday the Bears were winning the 85' Superbowl. Our grandparents don't even remember the Cubs last WS win.

Cubs WS win >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bears SB win. No contest.

Also, if the Bears lose Sunday, it won't be nearly as painful as the 2003 NLCS. This is mostly because the Bears don't have the equivalent of a 3-1 series lead. The only way it would compare is if the Bears pulled an Oilers and blew a ridiculous lead. Probably not even then.

There are so many facets to the Cubs' futility that a WS win would be just monumental. A Bears championship would be absolutely awesome, but not reality altering, like a Cubs championship would be.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on locking the Saints thread!!

I figured that would go over well.

Well for all of us Saints fans this is the first time we've ever been to this place before. I mean, imagine if this was the first time in franchise history that the Bears got to an NFC Champ. game.

I grew up with the Saints and have loved them my whole life, and I'm sure a good many other southerners on this board feel the same way.

But whatever.

And that's fine! But it doesn't need it's own thread...this is the Bears vs Saints thread...post it here.

I'm not trying to somehow stifle Saints fandom...
