Who would have thought that out of all the opponents the Bears have faced this year, it would be the Saints that we have have the most bickering with?

Go Cubs!

I've been called a troll several times in this thread already and I don't appreciate that. That is why I wanted a separate thread.

Bah. I was being totally tongue-in-cheek with my post. Doesn't bother me.

Go Cubs!

Could be because they're the one team that stands between us and Miami...

How I define irony:

The "trolling" Saints fans' thread

Nothing ironic about it. Trolling was put in quotes because I had just been called a troll in this thread.

I've seen one post mentioning Saints fans and trolling. It was a general comment not directed specifically at you like you imply. And it certainly wasn't "several times".

That said, the comment was inappropriate, and so let this be a warning to everyone. Name calling, including calling each other trolls, isn't going to be tolerated in this thread. We have 5 more days till this game starts, and I don't want this to be a name calling thread. We're all adults and can have a civil, friendly, rivalry.

Lets let the "trolling" comments drop, and move on with what should be a fun week for everyone.

Saints message board. Please don't troll it. I just thought the level of confidence was interesting. For a team that's never been to the NFC Championship before, there's a whole lot of confidence about beating the number one seed on the road.

as opposed to what? You think Saints fans are going to be hand-wringing and sweating bullets? Ya, we're nervous, but we have to express confidence and get behind our team. When I see confident Bears fans I don't think "hah! look at those overconfident fools", rather I think that they are just big Bears fans who support their team.

Tired of this PC crap with New Awleens or however you pronounce it. The "WHAT a wonderful story they have for the City" has gotten on my last nerve.

I hope the Bears destroy them and then their owner moves them to San Antonio.

(It's already been a tough Tuesday)

Well, don't you dare think that Saints fans give a crap about the feel good story. It pisses us the hell off. Most of my friends and I were born Saints fans and raised diehard Saints fans who follow all the stats, players, and watch every game, etc.

It sucks to have the attention diverted away from a good football TEAM and focused on a good STORY.

As Cubs fans, we've followed their stats, players, schedules, and scores for years and years now, just waiting for the time when we can revel in the fact that we have a good team and look forward to something good coming from the Cubbies. What if all that patience and devotion were suddenly thrown to the wind thanks to a "feel good story".

It's bullcrap.

I'm about taking the humble approach.

I think talking smack before the game is bad luck. This game has me nervous as well. The Saints have the abiltity to come in and smack us around no doubt.

However, should the Bears pull out a win, I am gonna be running my mouth afterwards.

Honestly, I think there's a lot of Bears fans hand-wringing and sweating bullets though. That was my point. At this point I think Saints fans as a whole are more confident (rightly or wrongly) about this game than Bears fans as a whole.

And just to note, I never said anything about them being overconfident. I was just pointing out that they were pretty confident.

On a side note, what is the status of Joe Horn? Thumbs up? Down?

Fair enough.

Frankly, I'm terrified about having to go play in Chicago. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. I have a serious feeling that I'm probably going to be so nervous before the game on Sunday that I'll vomit. The Saints are such a huge part of my life, even more so than my fanatical devotion to the Cubs, in large part because I'm so close and actually go to alot of the games.

For all the tough talk coming from Saints fans, I can guarantee you that most are scared sh*tless, as I am.

Joe Horn says Joe Horns not sure right now.

I agree that the New Orleans story is a great one, but also agree that it has to be annoying that it's taking away attention from the fact that the Saints have played great this year.

At the same time, the QB for the Saints didn't help things when his comments in the postgame were about the hurricane (yes I know he was just answering the questions). He was surprised that the people bought so many season tickets after all they had gone through and pointed out that he had been stopped by 20-30 people per day thanking him for giving them hope and something to cheer for.

He's listed as questionable, as usual.

However, because Joe Horn knows how much he means to the Saints, and because he knows that this is the biggest game in franchise history, I'd expect him to make every effort to play. The cold certainly won't help the situation though, as he'll have a tough time stretching that hamstring in the cold.

Unfortunately, I don't think Joe will be back next year. With the young crop of receivers the Saints have now (Colston, Henderson, and Copper), I'm not sure if the Saints will be picking up Joe's contract, which is worth about 5m a year now. I hope they do though, because he's still such a huge impact player.

I don't know. I would have no problem saying that SOME of them are overconfident. There's a thread asking where in Chicago they can go after the game to celebrate and watch the next game to find out their opponent.

One of the replies goes something along the lines of (paraphrasing), "Well, our trophy presentation is going to overlap with the second game so you might miss some of the first half."

I mean, come on. I don't think I was that cocky even as a fan of the 90's Bulls..

Ok, maybe I was. But we had Mike.

Even with Mike, thought I was confident, I sure was nervous as the games were being played...especially when they were close. And I'm not sure that a public forum is the best measure of the overall fanbases confidence...

Provided he plays, I think Horn could be the X factor in this game. Tillman usually matches up well with the bigger WR's, so I think he will do well vs. Colston. Horn always is dangerous deep down the middle of the field, and that is exactly where the Bears are vunerable.

This matchup should be a good one and I think both teams were the best in the NFC and rightfully deserve to play each other.

I agree. If the Bears had to lose the NFC Championship to one team, it is them. People keep pointing out how they were 3-13 a year ago, but that record is misleading. They were alot better than that record, easily could have been an 8-8, 9-7 team IMO.

Then they added a top 5 QB in the NFL, plus the best RB in College the past 10 years. This team is talented.

As a former college track runner with bad hamstrings, I'll be the first to tell you that cold weather and bad hamstrings make for a horrible day. But we'll have to see how he responds. I'm sure he'll do what he can to play, especially knowing that there's a chance this could be his last game as a Saint.

And that's just sad. I consider Joe Horn to be one of those guys that needs to retire with his team. He's a Saint, and should always be one. For a while, when I'd think of the Saints, the first player that came to mind was Horn.

I view it as some good natured smack talking. I talk much more smack in everyday life than i do on a message board because it can be construed differently without the human to human interaction (Its easy and fun to talk smack with Lion fans). Like Bear fans saying they can't wait to see Virginia McCaskey hand the George Halas trophy to herself. Its not meant to be taken seriously like the game is in the bag.

Yea... It's pretty much assinine to point to last year at all when the team added the best QB in the league this year and a top RB, the two most important positions on offense.
