Not from mods. There's no reason for fans of the Bears opponents to not be able to post in the game thread.

If you guys have a good reason why there should be a seperate Saints thread, by all means, let me know...I'm not trying to be an arbitrary jerk here. But we've locked additional Bears threads in the past because they were duplicate, so I don't see why this would be different.

All I know is that for one team this season, I think it was the Vikings or something, fans there were trying to discuss their team and basically the consensus of the people there (don't remember if it was mods or not) was that the Bears threads would be treated like Cubs threads and that "trolling" like comments should be forbidden in the thread.

I have no problem with Saints fans talking in the Bears thread. It's a Cubs message board, why let football separate us. There are several good Bears and Saints forums that are discussing the game with their own biased viewpoints, and if thats what you are looking for, then go there.

I've been called a troll several times in this thread already and I don't appreciate that. That is why I wanted a separate thread.

Troll says what? :D

Barack Obama talkin some smack:

"

The Bears are going to the Super Bowl," a gleeful Obama told reporters Monday outside St. Mark Cathedral in Harvey. "I am happy for New Orleans. I think it's a wonderful story for their city, but this fairy tale ends when they come to Chicago

I'm not saying this to attack anyone or slight anyone but I am absolutely baffled by people who have favorite teams in different sports all over the country. It's not like I'm saying it's not possible...I've just never had anything besides that hometown mentality. Even with me moving away from Chicago very young, I could never see myself rooting for teams anywhere else, especially in multiple cities, and I've lived somewhere different pretty much every 3rd year of my life until now (I'm 27). I understand the varied regions of college fandom despite my college sports inertest being next to nil...I don't know, something about being a fan of the Cubs and then, say, the Spurs and then the Chargers and then the whatever just seems so weird.

It probably has a lot to do with me being a "3rd culture kid" and growing up pretty much anywhere (often overseas) except where I was born. Most of my American friends up until high school grew up the same way. Most of us latched onto a single city or state were born in or lived in early as "our place" and then glommed onto the teams from that area.

I have no problem with anyone cheering a team on, no matter which team it is. That's not trolling.

What I do consider trolling is posting something like "HAHAHAHAHA" over and over again every time something goes wrong for the Bears. I mean, who are you really laughing at by posting that? I don't think the Bears read this board.

To be fair, it's largely trolling the other way when someone cheers on the misfortune of the other team.

I understand that sentiment. With the Cubs, it can be a different story for a lot of people. Many kids without local teams latch on to the Cubs because they are the ones that they can follow on TV. My parents were Cubs fans when they lived in southern Michigan, and growing up in Indy without a local team made it easy for me to become a Cubs fan as well from a very young age. Of course, I wasn't going to go away from the two teams that were 20 minutes away either, so I became a Colts and Pacers fan and have remained those even though I've lived somewhere else for the last few years. I think that could be a big reason why there are Cubs fans though that are all sorts of fans in other sports because of the teams visibility with the lack of a local team.

Yeah, it's confusing to me, also. If you are going to pick random towns and teams to be a fan, why on Earth would anyone pick the Cubs?

It's Bears, Cubs and Bulls for me, though I'm not really an NBA fan anymore now that the greatest player that ever lived is retired (Jordan).

I support the Chargers and Padres when they aren't playing the Cubs, but it's because I live here now. But, when they play against Chicago, my allegiance is still with the area I grew up in and followed from day 1.

I have no pro teams in my area and the Cubs were a team I picked for some reason when I was 8. I always found Yankee and Met fans to be obnoxious so I had no interest in those teams and that cute little Cubbie on the Cubs sleaves sold me. If there was a team that had dinosours as their mascot I'm sure I would have picked them.

Well, I arrived at the Cubs and Bulls at separate times and for separate reasons. I moved to Indiana from South Carolina at age 10 and it was too hard to follow the Braves here so I latched on with my best friend's team which just happened to be the Cubs. This was around 2000. However, I'm also an admitted Bulls bandwagon jumper from the MJ years because I loved and still love the man (and there was no reason to cheer on the closest team to me - the Hornets - when I was little).

I never had the heart to switch from the Panthers after I left South Carolina, but I'm glad I didn't. It's sort of fun being an outsider in this little Midwestern Bears/Colts universe.

Tired of this PC crap with New Awleens or however you pronounce it. The "WHAT a wonderful story they have for the City" has gotten on my last nerve.

I hope the Bears destroy them and then their owner moves them to San Antonio.
