Ugh, I just found out that student section tickets are in current Bruin Cards (IDs). In the past, students could just hand off their ticket to other students/alum (say, during finals week or winter break), but no more.

Damn that was smart of them. But, stingy too.

Not really smart, Pauley is going to be really quiet during finals week and winter break (and we play Texas A & M then).

Rich McBride is an absolute bum.

Even without Randle and Smith(for all intensive purposes) we would have won if Brock would have got all of Richards minutes. Those two passes were absolutely terrible. Arizona is going to destroy us.

I believe the Illini will hang in there with defense (the other night vs. Maryland notwithstanding) and rebounding yet, lose. If only someone would adpot the attitude Maryland' Vasquez had the other night - I'm going to the hoop and making plays, try to stop me. Or, in other words - FU UA and Lute Olson, you're going to react to my play, not the other way around. Chester Frazier or Calvin Brock maybe?

Bob Huggins.. I'm definitely not sold on him.. We've now gotten our ass kicked 2 road games in a row. UGH! He's playing walk ons over players that were a respectable group last year. I'm not happy.

Two games gives you that opinion, yet you were completely sold on him this summer just based on the things you heard from KSU fans? No one could convince you that Huggins had any negative traits.

That deliberate, dirty punch by one of Huggy's thugs is just the beginning.

As a fan of the ACC (I grew up in North Carolina), and an alumnus of the Big Ten (Northwestern), I'm a little torn on this idea. Obviously, the ACC would be destroyed. Northwestern might even win, which is about as common as Halley's Comet.

Even if they did do it, though, college basketball's clear superiority over college football would win the day for the ACC (man the BCS is stupid).

Jeez, when did you attend/graduate? NU's no powerhouse, but we have won 3 conference titles and attended 5 bowls in the past 11 years...

Definitely rampant hyperbole on my part, and I meant it to be that way - I graduated in 2005. Basically, my freshman year was the year things fell apart (SI had us ranked preseason #12, I think, and we wound up being pretty pitiful), and they stayed poor to mediocre until last year, the year after I graduated (when they still weren't anything special).

I figured you were kidding a little bit, but I was just thinking about our school spirit today so I thought I'd say something.

I overheard a freshman saying "God, our football team ALWAYS loses." I think the losses stick too much to our student body than the wins, unfortunately.

We should make some noise next season though if everyone can stay healthy.

I hope so. I just remember the disappointment pretty vividly my freshman year. We won the first three games (barely - they were all very close), and it was great to see that purple clock. But then we lost to Penn State, who hadn't won a game yet - our defense was HORRIBLE (iirc, Napolean Harris had left for the NFL the year before). The rest of the season was pretty much a nosedive. The only highlight in all four years I was there was when we beat Ohio State - but that was ultimately pretty sad, as a student in the stands died (I think from asthma) rushing the field.

let the huggins era begin.

Colon's a freshman too, that should mean Huggins brought him in. Wow.

colon already punched a fellow teammate in the weight room, according to reports. sounds like a class act. oh, and he's most definitely a huggy recruit.

Huggins wasn't going to offer him a scholarship until Colon punched him in the face and slapped his own momma.

Well, it *was* a close game. But Mizzou forced a lot of turnovers and Arkansas committed a bunch of unforced ones, took bad shots, and went about 6 minutes without scoring, so Mizzou leads 44-28 at the half.

that's pretty surprising. outside of hannah, i think mizzou's talent is pretty subpar.

It's essentially the worst case scenario. Young team (no seniors, starting a freshman and a first year junior), heavy turnover, unestablished identity. opponent with high pressure defense with emphasis on keeping the ball from getting into the bigs. Everything has gone perfectly for Missouri and worst possible for Arkansas.

Does this mean Mizzou actually has a chance of beating U of I? Breaking our infinity games winning streak against them?

I think it'll be a great game. I haven't gotten to watch a full Illinois game yet though.

Great win for Mizzou tonight. Came out strong and forced a lot of turnovers. This is a tough team. I still don't know how good they are, but they are going to be tough all season long. Hannah is a stud, Keon Lawrence is going to be a stud, and I've never seen such an amazing turnaround from one season to the next than I have with Matt Lawrence. The kid has a nasty shot. Combine that with Grimes who can finally make a layup and is having a solid year, and this team could make some noise come conference time.

wowowowow, that was awesome

To answer a couple questions, Mizzou's talent isn't THAT low. The team is composed of quite a few top 100 guys, Snyder was always able to recruit but not coach. And yes, I think they're capable of beating U of I, although I would probably be surprised to see it happen. If they continue to shoot this well from beyond the arc(Matt Lawrence is a golden god) they're going to beat a lot of teams.

does anybody know when randle is coming back? i have only seen UI once vs. maryland. but i see a big team that will hit open threes really well, but very low on overall athleticism. this team really needs randle, and may not win many games without him.

Oden is supposed to play today vs. Valpo, several weeks earlier than expected. after watching them play UNC, i'm wondering if they could run the table in a down B10.

edit: they play back to back at Wisky then at UI Jan 6 and 9th, so that could be their biggest test.

UK played better than i thought they would, but oh well. i've been saying that for the past two years, and we haven't done much of anything. "tubbyball" is quite possibly the most boring thing to watch on the planet. we need a real point guard.
