Stop the presses. That changes everything. I'm feeling very confident about this weekend.

I don't care what people think of the Bears. I just want them to continue winning. Home field advantage throughout the playoffs means a whole lot more to me than what people think of them.

The fact that Alexander is out for weeks probably helps our standing in that regard as well (aside from just our game with them).

Shaun Alexander is out for this weekend's game...broken foot, just heard on the Score.

It's a shame, now people will have another excuse when the Bears beat Seattle. Plus, he hasn't been running all that great this year, anyway.

ESPN.com story.

Madden cover jinx strikes again.

Well, that depends. If the Bears come out and dominate like I'm predicting they will, it wont matter if gale sayers was supposed to be starting at HB. I have da bears holding seattle to 2 TD's or less and winning by 20

There's no way the Bears win by twenty. I think the Bears will win, even moreso with Alexander out, but twenty? Be realistic!

I agree. I think it's gonna be a close game. With Alexander out, they can focus on stopping Hasselback and the passing game.

Do you think the Bears could get Tampa's first rounder for Brian Griese right now?

Heh...maybe if they weren't 0-3.

Didn't think so either. But I wonder if they would even talk. Despite the hot start, I'm not sure Angelo would be all that keen on leaving Orton as the backup to Rex right now. I have to believe Tampa stills wants to salvage something out of this season, which was supposed to be a playoff season.

I don't think Angelo would do that. As great as Rex has played, he's still never completed a full season.

How about a 4th Rd pick for Orton? :P

Maurice Morris may not be a pushover, but any (typical) 2nd stringer is a big step down from Shaun Alexander, who is one of the top 3 running backs in the NFL, whether he has produced this year or not

Seahawks fans are pretty dim. They seem to think that we have no offense. Do they realize that teams aren't the same from year to year. First of all, I am not saying that Rex Grossman is the next coming of Brett Favre. But by watching the first 3 games of the season, IT IS PLAINLY OBVIOUS that with Grossman at QB, the Bears offense is better.

YES, there are still problems in the red zone. YES, he makes mistakes still when pressured. But the fact of the matter is, in games Grossman plays, the Bears offense consistantly puts itself in a position to score. The offense is completely changed from last season. I guess I shouldn't be too upset because the Seahawks don't intently watch Bears games like we do. If they did they would see how conservative the offense was with Orton at the helm. When Grossman threw a bomb to I think Moose in the GB game last year, it was the first 40+ yard pass completion of the year. How many do we have this year? Certainly more then 1. The game has opened up and we can now play for the deep pass instead of simply hoping to get a few good runs and a FG while hoping for the D to hold ground.

We can now actually get in shootouts, as evidenced by the playoff game. Seahawks fans seem to think we got shut out in that game. I agree, the game was worse then the score indicated, but we spent most of the second half within a 1 score distance. Our defense failed, but our offense looked pretty decent in that game and has only improved since.

I don't mind Seattle thinking that they can win, because they should think that. But to dismiss the Bears as an inferior opponent and then saying its because we have no offense is idiotic.

Oh I agree. But if the Bears think they can completely come in and not worry about the run, Morris will easily run for 80-100 yards.

The game isn't for another 6 days, and this game thread already has as many pages as the last 2 Cubs game threads combined.

The Cubs are still playing?

Agreed. Alexander was running too gingerly with that foot. People need to realize this isn't a sudden injury---he's been playing on it for awhile and it has shown.

With Alexander finally out, the Seahawks can concentrate on running the ball with a healthy RB. IMO this is actually a blessing in disguise for them. Shaun would not have been effective with that foot anyway. Morris will be better for them.

Well Bears Seahawks pictures are few and far between. Here is the only picture I can find on Google images that doesn't make the Bears look bad

Some photos from the Seahawks website:

Oh yeah! Chandler with the 2 point conversion! (the only picture that wasn't biased for the seahawks

You don't think you could get more for a QB that won 10 games last year??

That's pretty much how all football prognostication works.

Lots of people still think of STL as an explosive offense. It took forever for people to realize Green Bay wasn't unbeatable at home. It took about 15 weeks for people to realize the Bears were good last year.

seattle, sports-wise, is a strange and isolated place.

Any updates in the Chicago area on Desmond Clark?

No, and that's not a good sign. Lovie said yesterday that they didn't know the severity of it yet. The Trib said a high ankle sprain would keep him out around 4 weeks.
