Week 4: Seahawks @ BEARS - Sunday Oct. 1, 7:15 cst NBC

Regarding Tillman - the Bears defensive scheme doesn't flip corners so no one is ever really 'on' a particular receiver. The offensive can really dictate matchups in that case (see Chris Thompson on Steve Smith)

Ok, so I have avoided this thread this week in the thought process that there was going to be a lot of Seahawks bashing or just plain no knowledge on them since no one ever talks about them. I am pleasantly suprised. I gotta say though that the guarded optimism is probably a good idea. The Seahawks are underrated and after the Giants game should be more feared.

Recap: Hasselback still the best QB in the NFC. Put of the 3 picks on Sunday, 2 were tipped and the last one was thrown to a new reciever that didn't run the right route. 5TD's and 1 pick looks a lot different. Alexander being out is not as critical because the Seahawks have basically been without him the 1st 3 weeks anyway. At least they have a good idea of how to play without him. The defense had not given up their first TD of the season until the 4th quarter of the Giants game when they started in the red zone and the game was already decided (and with backups in). They are ranked 9thin the league and aren't the pushover they are thought to be. The depth on the D-line (even with Tubbs out) helps keep it fresh and the rookies (Tapp & Jennings) are making a big impact. Not to mention Hamlin is back (he was shot in the head last year) and combined with Boulware make a pretty awesome safety tandem.

Future: The 'Hawks play well on Sunday night and are looking to make a statement similar to the Carolina Playoff game last year. Another week to gel the "Fantastic Four" can oinly help. I think that many of you will be surprised by Mo Morris (a former U of O Duck). He is akin to Warrick Dunn and is a squirter type of back perfect to squeeze through the front of your line. A prediciton of a 23 carry 115 yard game is not too far off. The defense will be able to blitz similar to Minnesota but they have better cover (and hitting) linebackers then Minny so Grossman won't find too many open recievers. I would expect a lot of screens and rushing. Benson is an X factor as the Hawks might not do as well against a power back.

I am giddy about this game as it will be the first live game I get to watch for the Seahawks (the niners were on for me last week) I wis you all luck but I predict a great game in which the seahawks win 24-17.

Everyone and their brother has the Seahawks penciled in to the Super Bowl, and you say they are underrated?

Not to mention the lack of Branch coverage. ESPN goes from the "Branch Watch: to "oh yeah he was traded to Seattle today" to "Boo Hoo Brady misses Branch"

The lack of Seattle coverage is pitiful

Something you didn't talk about, that was talked about quite a bit in this thread, is the Bears pass rush vs the Seahawks 4 WR set. I really think that's going to be a huge matchup in this game. If the pass rush can get to Hasslebeck in those sets, it's going to throw a huge crimp in what Seattle was successful at vs the Giants. If they aren't successful at it, there's going to be a lot of pressure on the Bears secondary all night long.

Also, there's underestimating going on both sides, because all the Seattle message boards I've read talk about how crappy the Bears offense is, and that's just not the case. If the Seahawks treat the Bears like they have a bad offense, they're going to get burned.

I think this is going to be a great game.

I'm thinking 27-17 Seahawks. Bears defense still hasn't played a great game, and the Bears RB's still haven't played a great game. Alexander being out is probably a positive, since a 100% Morris is probably better than a 75% Alexander. I think Hasselhoff picks the Bears secondary apart, and his line gives him just enough time to do so. No Des Clark will mean trouble for Grossman against a pretty decent defense.

You're talking ancient history. Nobody in their right mind is picking 1-2 Carolina, or 1-2 NY, or a dynfunctional Cowboys team. They're all picking the Seahawks, with a few stragglers picking Chicago.

The Seahawks are probably the *LAST* team in the NFL that can claim to be underrated. Maybe the Bengals.

Not meaning to be rude, but perhaps it's time to take the pre-season football magazines off the coffee table and trade them in for a current issue of SI??

Not sure if you did that intentionally, but Hasselhoff is awesome.

And I'm not going to complain about a late night game since I actually get to watch it! :)

They tackled very, very poorly against Detroit and Minnesota. You can't get away with that against better teams.

I couldn't remember how to spell his name, so I gave him the first nickname I could think of.

after week 2

Everybody expects us to be the team that was in the Super Bowl

it's not enough to be within the top two of everybody's power rankings or to be the pre-season superbowl pick for one third of the prognosticators I guess.

if the Seahawks have fallen in the eyes of any, it is because of the way they have played the past three weeks. both the Detroit and AZ performances were lackluster to say the least, and last week was a function of converting three short fields into 21 points. while that execution is admirable, they did it against one of the leagues worst defenses to date (granted the Giants have started with three tough games).

I'm not in agreement with most. I don't know which team will do it, but I think one side or the other may find a way to exploit the other and have a relatively easy go of it. not sure which team that will be though. if I were a betting man I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole.

They have had a great game. They shut out a Packer team that scored 26 and 31 the next two weeks. The defense has allowed 1 TD all season. When you go for big plays and takeaways you will not make every tackle. It's the nature of the way they play. The way to judge a defense in the end is points allowed, and the Bears have been great.

Touche folks, touche. I just rant because I am tired of the bad football teams getting too much press. If I see any more "anyalsis" of the Cowboys or the Panthers or the Bucs i will throw something. I mean, the MVP has a broken foot and was going to play anyway and there is more about an overrated WR with a broken finger. Seriously, who is more important, TO or Shaun?

Clark has been warming up on the field and going through some tests.

He will play tonight.

Excellent. Man I am pumped for this game. LETS GO BEARS!
