I'm hoping that this week was a bit of a wake up call to the Bears that they need to be sharp out there on the field, or they're very beatable. I think the Bears definitely have the talent to win every game this season (16-0! WOO!) but they have to want it, and push for it. I'll say 13-3 this season...not ready to predict this weeks game though.

I dunno.....

I mean, I agree it should serve as a wakeup call that we need to play at 100% every game, but I'm against this view that the Bears were "lucky" or should have lost the game.

When you see a team knifing through an OLine as talented as the Vikes late in the 4th quarter to force a turnover, then witness your offense strike downfield for a TD........that's so far away from luck or good fortune it isn't even funny.

Most defenses would have been too gassed to ever considering making a huge play like that in the backfield late in the 4th. Heck, most teams would have been too deflated PERIOD after the Grossman INT.

Vikes are a definite playoff contending team in my book. You waltz up there and beat them, in their house, with that crowd? That's some serious football right there.

We're going to destroy those guys in December @ Soldier Field.

This is exactly how i feel. We didn't play well much of the game, but we did indeed deserve to win. We forced the fumble, we scored the touchdown. Our defense didn't allow them to get in the endzone.

Thats it.

The Seahawks game is going to be huge. I don't want to feel too confident, just like against the Panthers last year...

But I am.

Any updates in the Chicago area on Desmond Clark?

No, and that's not a good sign. Lovie said yesterday that they didn't know the severity of it yet. The Trib said a high ankle sprain would keep him out around 4 weeks.

Ouch.

I open the sun times today to find this heaping steaming pile of

crap article by Couch

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/73255,CST-SPT-greg27.article

The article also failed to mention Benson was one of the first to high

five and congratulate Rex after his TD pass.

If I was playing behind a garbage running back like Thomas Jones

and not getting any PT, I would be ticked on the sidelines as well.

And I thought his comments in the locker room after the game

were very responsible.

I really like how Lovie doesn't take crap from anyone.

Kinda nice, isn't it? Anyways, as the game draws nearer, the most excited I get. I'm really pumped up for this game. Hopefully they cut down the penalties and get that running game going a little bit. Now would be a nice time for their first 100 yard rushing game from Jones or even Benson.

Banged up linebackers:

The Bears added one drafted linebacker to their roster and placed another one on injured reserve Tuesday when they put Jamar Williams, their fourth-round pick in the 2006 draft, on IR with a shoulder injury and replaced him with Rod Wilson, their 2005 seventh-round pick who spent last season on IR with a knee injury.

Williams played in the first three games and recorded three special-teams tackles and a pass breakup. The Bears also released former NIU receiver Dan Sheldon and signed Brandon Rideau in practice-squad moves. Rideau is a second-year receiver out of Kansas who spent 2005 on the Browns' practice squad.

From the Sun-Times today

Williams, a fourth-round pick from Arizona State, was being groomed as a potential replacement for Lance Briggs if the Pro Bowl linebacker departs via free agency.

ugg..I crinched when I read that.

Yes, Williams showed some promise this year.

Yes, the WOLB position in a cover-2 D, is a position were players generally have success.

But I certainly hope that heavin forbid Briggs leaves, a better replacement option is aquired.

While I think Manning and Hester were great picks, it still might have been better if the Bears stayed in the late first round and selected DeMeco Ryans.

my 2 cents.

Does that mean Williams is out for the year?

The Seahawks are apparently listening to Shaun Alexander, who is crediting prayer for possibly healing his cracked left foot. The team is listing Alexander as doubtful on its official injury report today. Two days ago, coach Mike Holmgren declared Alexander "out" for this game. The "doubtful" designation opens the door ever so slightly, perhaps pending the result of additional tests (it technically means there is a 25 percent chance he will play). We'll know more after Mike Holmgren speaks at his noon (PDT) press conference today.

Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander hopes to play Sunday, after all. The NFL's reigning most valuable player is crediting the power of prayer for possibly healing the cracked bone in his left foot. The foot stopped hurting Tuesday and word spread as Alexander began alerting friends and family. Alexander's brother, Durran, confirmed this today and said his famous brother plans to undergo additional tests today. These stories are rare but not without precedent. Reggie White credited prayer for healing his injured hamstring, allowing him to play for the Green Bay Packers in 1995. We'll presumably hear more about this if and when Alexander addresses reporters later in the day. Coach Mike Holmgren will provide the latest information at his press conference today (noon PDT). The team will still determine whether Alexander plays against the Bears on Sunday. The MRI exam he underwent earlier in the week showed a very small crack. If that has cleared up, it's conceivable that Alexander could play this week. At the very least, it sounds like he could be a fast healer. Stay tuned.

not taking anything away from briggs because i would hate to see him leave, i really wonder how good he'd be w/o a guy like urlacher drawing so much attention.

Uhhh, yeah. He's not that fast a healer. I'd like to see a side-by-side of MRIs before declaring a miracle.

Not that I have a clue, but somehow I find it difficult to believe God would care much if Shaun Alexander can make the Bear game or not. Hurting or not, if the crack is still there then playing on it might only make it worse.

I just read that Holmgren is still waiting to see the MRI and still won't let Alexander play if he sees a crack.

Basically what to take from this is that Shaun Alexander is a huge moron.

News on Clark from chicagobears.com

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Desmond Clark missed practice Wednesday with a sprained foot and was listed as questionable on the injury report, meaning that there’s a 50 percent chance he’ll play in Sunday night’s showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. But the Bears are hopeful that their starting tight end will be able to suit up.

The eight-year veteran hurt his foot in the third quarter of last weekend’s comeback win over the Minnesota Vikings while making a 17-yard reception. Clark returned for one play, then limped off the field and was carted to the locker room.

The Bears' Desmond Clark leads NFC tight ends with 193 receiving yards this season.

“Hopefully we’re not going to lose him,” said offensive coordinator Ron Turner. “Hopefully, he’ll be ready to go. If he can’t go, then (backup tight ends) John (Gilmore) and Gabe (Reid) are going to have to step up and play. Obviously it would be a loss because Dez is playing great.”

Great news. Way better than I expected.

Article on Bears.com pretty much clears up the Benson situation.

Has anyone noticed what a trash bag Greg Couch has become?

I'm gonna have to rank him above Mariotti for #1 Sun Times Sports Jerk.

I'm pretty sure the guy from the Tribune was the first to bring this up, and Couch just ran with. Which is still pretty bad considering I don't think he even attended the game.

I'm really starting to get annoyed at all the body language police piling on Benson.

No doubt.

Here is the full interview with Benson.

http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/index.asp?mm_file_id=373

Talks about how excited he is with the success of the team.

Is a huge Grossman fan, and happy for his success.

Those two D-Bags Couch and Haugh should issue an apology

in the paper, but they won't.

right?

and i think he realizes that the reason he didn't play against the vikings was that they were blitzing on every play and he needs to improve his blocking. if seattle doesn't blitz as much, we'll see benson in this game.

benson will get his shot eventually, and we'll like him much more than jones.

Posted

Yeah, weird! Benson is a little down after not being used for a single play in a huge game? I'm really surprised that he's not as excited as the other guys. The guy in front of him throws up stinker after stinker and he doesn't even see the field, why should he be upset? He lost his starting job in the preseason because of injury and hasn't been given a shot to earn it back despite the awful performance of Thomas Jones. I would be pumped. What a jerk Benson is.

/end rant.

Seriously, I hate this stuff. A week before the season started Brad Biggs wrote some article about how the Bears looked "Over Confident" and didn't have a hard training camp. He concluded that they would have an awful and disappointing season. Hey, how's that working out Biggs? Well done.

Also, why pile on Benson for being a malcontent and give Jones a pass. Did the offseason even happen? Is it a coincidence that Jones skipped the entire preseason and it stinking up the field?
