Ryan Freel said not even Farney believed that Freel made the stupendous diving catch on Albert Pujols Tuesday.

Farney? Who’s Farney?

“He’s a little guy who lives in my head who talks to me and I talk to him,” said Freel, acting as if he finally crashed into too many walls, ran into too many catchers and dived into too many dugouts.

“That little midget in my head said, ‘That was a great catch, Ryan,’” he said. “I said, ‘Hey, Farney, I don’t know if that was you who really caught that ball, but that was pretty good if it was.’ Everybody thinks I talk to myself, so I tell ‘em I’m talking to Farney.’ ”

Um. Ok.

 Not sure whether to laugh or be very worried for him. :?

He should have played for the 93 Phillies. Would have fit right in with those loons.

I was going to say, I think Freel is trying to become this generation's Lenny Dykstra -- on the field and off the field (as his DUI and public intoxication arrests will attest).

My first thought when reading this was USSoccer's, to the letter. We need Freel on this team, I think he and Z would get along great.

UK has been driving the Freel bandwagon for a long time, long enough that it was actually possible to acquire Freel when he was first driving it.

The time to grab Freel has come and gone. It's a King's Ransom now, if possible at all.

Heh, I'm good at projecting middle infielders.

Note: I also wanted Bill Hall and Freddy Sanchez for quite some time (Sanchez while w/Boston and Bill Hall when he was the utility player when he 1st came up).

Weren't you also a Ramon Vasquez fan too? :D
