Cirillo grounded to shortstop , safe at first on a fielding error, E6

Izzy would've made that play...

Isringhausen is a pitcher for the Cardinals. I doubt he has the range to play shortstop. Moves up on the defensive spectrum rarely work.

Prior is done for. I'm convinced now more than ever that he will never be the same pitcher whom was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. His curveball and fastball are just not the same anymore. I feel bad for this guy who was drafted by a 2nd rate organization like this one.

Is it all the organization's fault?

YOu can definitely make a case for it or did you forget how bad he was abused in 2003? Crazy pitch counts and letting him go out there and pitch when he hurt his arm running the basepaths? Yeah, you can make a case. How's Kerry Wood doing these days?

I'm not buying the Giles collision as some kind of major injury. He went on the DL, came back and proceeded to go 10-1 with an ERA below 2.00. If he was hurt, he was on some serious medicine to mask it. mAybe he needs to go back on it.

Which is my point. Prior was never hurt because of use in 2003. All his injuires were due to freakish injuries or non-arm releated...

Do you really believe that all the high pitch count that season on an arm that young have had no effect recently? I'm really asking and not trying to be a smart a**.

Just got here and see that Prior is still pregnant. How long can a pregnancy last?

If we sign a good pitcher this offseason, does this Mark deserve a rotation spot?

i have been saying this for most of the year. mark has been a rather average(actually below average) pitcher since june of last year. he has shown no signs of getting anything back. right now, other than his name, he is not as good as any of the young pitchers.

my hope is he shows some signs of life and then we must deal him!

can you believe that hendry tried to get bedard and tejada for him? truly if he ruin that deal by not taking tejada straight up...he should be fired immediately. right now i would have been happy with bedard straight up...

just think we couldn't even get hairston back for prior right now!

Yeah his stuff is really bad, I don't wanna hear about a slow gun either cause Juan is hitting 94.

Looks like Guzman will get the start Saturday.

Is this speculation?

They aren't going to pitch Mateo on Saturday now.

Pat and Ron believe someone will be called up. I'm guessing it will be Guzman, but I haven't checked the last time he's pitched.

And the Cubs are working on killing Mateo's arm already. He's pitching today and he's scheduled to start on Saturday. Brilliant.

Well he won't pitch on Saturday. Could be a Rusch outing...

Rusch just started playing catch and is still on the DL so we can forget about him for a while.

That's the best news I've heard in a while from this team

With the young guys pitching well there is no point for Rusch to even be

on this team.

But he has a 2+ million contract..Only a moron like Hendry would give him that $$$. The worst GM in baseball folks.

Going back through the discussion threads, it looks like 8/5, or last Saturday was the last time Guzman has pitched. I think he is supposed to go tomorrow night, so I wouldn't be surprised if he came up and Mateo went down.
