  1. IS it Gonna be Kosuke or Fukudome? Why would it be his first name? That's how Ichiro does it. I believe that in Japan the surname is first and the given name is second so Kosuke is his family name.
  2. ...and yet he didn't pick up the wisdom that should come with that aging.
  3. Well Fox isn't since the Yankees are on.....I really hate the Yankees. It could be worse. FOX could have brought Hawk in to do pbp with Jeannie the Ignorant doing color. At least then I could hit the mute button and watch the Cubs as it is I am blessed with another day of the Yankees being the primary game on FOX again.

  5. Got to applaud Barrett for being the in the lineup tonight after playing 15 innings at catcher last night.
  6. The real question is...do we suspend this game thread or put all the games tomorrow in one thread. You know we have to keep up with the important things.
  7. Well let's see...this is a FOX game and the Yankees are playing the Red Sox so I suppose that the game that will be on tomorrow for me will be the Red Sox and Yankees again. I will be greatly surprised if the Cubs are on my TV tomorrow. Hopefully Zambrano turns it around some more and looks like his old self again.
  8. So far in the Yankees - Red Sox game I have seen highlights from the Giants and from the White Sox games but only a mention that the Cubs and Cards were playing...I don't even think they mentioned the score. I've got zero interest in that game. I'm watching the Texas-Nebraska game instead. Well I raised a Red Sox fan oddly enough, so my son is watching that game. I have it on in the hopes that I will get to see a highlight from the Cubs eventually.

  10. Yeah that is nice, but I don't like his ability to pitch into jams before he pitches out of them.
  11. I see that the rest of you get to "enjoy" the Yankees-Red Sox game for a bit now.
  12. I hate it when Fox has the Yankees and Red Sox as the other game of the week because that means I won't get to see the Cubs....sigh at least I get to look at play by play here.
  13. I hope Z beats his wrinkly old butt for that crap. The guy was our offense yesterday. Zambrano deserved everything he got from Lou yesterday. Yes he was our offense, the problem is...he is suppose to be our pitcher, and when it got to the 5th inning yesterday he sucked.
  14. Let it drop already.... you have been like a broken record regarding OVA for most of this thread. There is a difference in making a comment about it and bludgeoning your point home to an audience that obviously grown tired of it.
  15. I saw a story talking about a bet Miller tried to get Bud to take. It would have resulted in one of the two stadiums (St. Louis or Miller Park) getting renamed for a single series in 2008. Sounds like Bud decided not to take the bet but I thought you guys might find it amusing none the less. http://www.jsonline.com/blog/?id=92 There is another link at the bottom with more info but there is an irritating flash intro to go through to see it.
  16. ESPN has an article that mentions MacPhail as a likely replacement for Selig when Selig's current contract expires. Thought I would post it here to see what the general opinion was..... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hotstove06/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=2735979
  17. I don't know.... with the Cubs' luck we would get both of them and the fact that they pitched into the postseason this year would give both of them tired arms next year and they would end up injured by July.
  18. I noticed a humorous poll on the baseball section of ESPN. The poll is for the NL MVP and gives a list of players. The humor comes into looking at the flash map for voting broken down state by state. IN 49 states and the map representing the votes coming from outside the US, Ryan Howard is the first place vote getter. In Missiouri, Pujols has a few commanding lead. It may not seem that amusing to anyone else but I got a bit of a chuckle out of seeing this one lone yellow state(the color for Pujols) in a field of green state(Howard's color). If anyone thinks it is a bit lame, just thikn of it as a Cubs fan trying to find something to laugh at to make it through the season.
  19. I agree with you... I have seen everyone up to this post talking about the albeit poor OBP that this team puts out every night but the article talks about walk differential. The Cubs go out with the extra load that comes with having to constantly deal with runners on base via the walk and starting pitchers that can't go deep into the game without incurring obscene pitch counts because they have been taught to nibble at the corners instead of going out there and getting the job done. There have been times over the past few years where we have had to shorten our bench, giving more playing time to the amazing Neifi, to put an extra pitcher into our pen. A step in the right direction would be to get our pitchers to quit nibbling and reduce their walk totals. That can only come with coaching and to a lesser degree decisions made from the GM. I am not saying that the OBP of the team isn't a problem because it is but I think that the pitching is at least as much to blame.
  20. Congrats Fred! Maybe he will see a Cubs championship by the time he has grandkids.
  21. well Nevin didn't strike out that time at least...
  22. Well he won't pitch on Saturday. Could be a Rusch outing... Rusch just started playing catch and is still on the DL so we can forget about him for a while.
  23. Is it hot enough for you, Fred? Just went outside to go to lunch and I just hope the Cubs bats are that hot. Man it's so hot.... I just saw a dog chasing a cat.... and they were both walking !! [/rimshot]. Yeah.... it's up over 100 here. Ouch....What were the worthless stats on that joke Fred?
  24. Except it would be nice to see Pagan for Jones vs a lefty. True-I guess I was prepared for that, since Bruce already said on Tuesday that Murton would start on Tuesday and Wednesday and then Pagan on Thursday-so I guess I just didn't think about any possible lineup changes because of the planning that was already set out. Didn't it say somewhere in that thread(the one where Bruce mentions Murton) that Jones is suppose to hit Davis very well?
