  1. He might be batting for himself like Dusty does with Carlos sometimes before he comes out. I would be surprised to see him out for the 6th.
  2. Most errors in one game from what I could find on baseball-almanac is: NL 2B Andy Leonard Boston 9 06-14-1876 So Encarnacion needs to get to work if he wants to break that record.
  3. Well....at least the home runs so far have been solo shots. Although I feel bad that I have to include the words "so far" in that statement.
  4. Oops...for some reason even though I read the front page of posts I managed to not see that..sorry about that.
  5. http://deadspin.com/sports/baseball/who-knew-about-lawtons-positive-test-and-when-134821.php Not sure if this has already been posted but it makes you wonder whether the Cubs found out something after they got him.
  6. Bottom of the 6th......EIGHT PITCHES needed to retire the side.
  7. Nope Personally, I'd like a Prior HR here. He could do it... :D CUBS are 25-16 when their pitchers' get at least 1 hit.... 34-46 when they don't Go CUBS !! . Over what time span is that stat from?
  8. Is it a left on base when they are picked off? Just curious. Nevermind I see that you changed it.
  9. At least Kim only wastes 4 pitches on a walk....that is one way to keep your pitch counts down I suppose.
  10. How do you walk two batters and face six yet only throw 15 pitches....oh yeah you must be playing the Cubs.
  11. The Cubs have now scored in all 6 innings of today's game. I have to ask the same thing everyone else has...where has this team been for the past 8 games?!?!
  12. Yeah but clowns are only funny when they swing away....he bunted. :Loves Futurama::
  13. I still love the Cubs too I am just unhappy with the way they have played, and I think that the way that the team is put togther in the coming years needs to be rethought. I won't stop loving the Cubs but they are in truth not very good this year.
  14. You know I have always found the statments that players aren't concentrating or aren't policing themselves to be ludicrous. These guys get played a ton of money each year to go out and play a baseball game. Now if they were being paid a pitance to go shovel cow manure for 12 hours a day I could see a certain lack of concentration, if a baseball player isn't concentrating then maybe he needs to be given a chance to do the other job for a few days.
  15. Yeah he did goof that part, but it was nice to hear the basic tenets of relativity in terms of a Kerry Wood fastball.
  16. As a physicist and a Cubs fan I found this short commentary on npr amusing. It is only a few minutes long and might be a nice distraction compared to how they have played lately. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4791082
  17. Currently the AL west has four teams and the NL central has six teams as I am sure everyone knows. Do you think the NL central gets an easier or harder ride with the way the current schedule is arranged than the AL west does. The reason I ask is all of the croonies at ESPN seem to berate the strength of the NL central divison unless they are talking about how wonderful St. Louis is. If there is an advantage/disadvantage in one of these divisons due to the divison heavy scheduling then why hasn't baseball tried to rectify this with an attempt to move an NL team to the AL so that all the divisons have the same number of teams. Sorry if the question seems sort of muddled but this has been one of the things that has really bugged me in baseball over the past few years( outside of how the Cubs perform of course).
  18. I saw this earlier and thought I would put it up here. Truly a class act by the Reds here. http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/12311591.htm
  19. You do if the other option is a start followed by trip to the DL every time he starts.
  20. Yeah Hawkeye I don't think I would want to put up with Manny with all of his quirks. Plus if he complains about not having any privacy outside of games in Boston then Chicago will be no better for him.
  21. I sat in for the Steve Phillips chat this morning to see what sort of questions he would answer. He seems bound and determined to find a way to get Manny Rameriez to the Cubs. Here is a copy of the chat log from this morning. Since it wasn't in Insider when I copied it I don't think there should be any problems. [Copyrighted content removed. Please post a link instead.]
  22. Great...now DLee won't have a multi RBI chance..... I kid!! I kid!!!
  23. This was in the ESPN recap of the game tonight....for some reason I found it funnier than it probably is. "I've been hit this hard before. I've never given up that many home runs, though. They were even hitting home runs foul. It was like I was throwing watermelons up there and they were Gallagher," Claussen said, referring to the comedian known for splattering melons with a sledgehammer.
