Patterson 2 for his last 16.

I guess he's washed up, then.

it was a bunt homerun, right?

No, but his coach was telling him to bunt and he wouldn't listen!

I love this thread almost as much as last year's Sisco one. It is pretty depressing to know that we let two HOF players go in two years. I mean, I know there is no Sisco thread getting bumped this year but that must just mean that people are over it, not that he has an ERA of 7.98 or anything like that.

I think KC just used him wrong. It was great that they could make use of him in their bullpen last year, but once he was no longer required to stay on the 25 man roster, they should have sent him down to AA or AAA to stretch him back out into a starter once again.

Just my opinion.

That once happened to me in an Allstar Baseball 2001 game (for N64). I bunted and nobody ever fielded it.

So who ever said Corey would be a HOF player?

who cares? the fact is, he put up a 3.11 era and a k per inning out of kc's pen last year at the age of 22 and the cubs got NOTHING for him. i don't know how you can defend that.

Actually, I would say not. He has had a pretty solid 2 months here. A 2-16 period doesn't mean he is washed up.

perhaps we should look at our coaching staffs when our pitchers and hitters go elsewhere and do well.it seems to be happening over and over.

most people knew we had to deal corey because he was not going to do it here. it's a shame that we are forced to deal prospects because our organization can't develop them. i also think the biggest beef that most people have is that we continue to devalue our own prospects and then deal for nothing or give them away.

i do not mind dealing prospects- we should, we just screw them up and then dump them.

seriously, what type of player could we have picked up 3 years ago for: cpatt, dubois, hill, brownlee, wellmeyer, mitre, wuertz, christenson, nolasco, guzman and we were able to steal pierre for a year. these guys were all untouchable at one time and we still have 2 of them that have no value at all(hill and wuertz) and guzman may still have a small amount of value. that is what people are pissed about!

i think that saying hill & wuertz having no value & guzman having a small amount of value is a MAJOR overstatement. the 1st 2 continue to dominate at aaa and guzman has never pitched a full season in the minors yet. the cubs need to jetison the overpaid vets and go with the younger guys to get anywhere imo.

Speed Kills.

Tonight, 3-4, 1 SB, 1 RBI (w/ 2 out), 1 run scored

Scored from 1st on a single and an error when the FLA CF over ran the ball. Speed kills.

Corey apparently aged several decades in his time with the Orioles.

No one has to defend anything players turn things around all the time and in the same breath they bomb sometimes. The kid might be an All-Star somewhere down the line but the second time around the league guys are hitting .307 off him. His ERA and BAA are actuallly worse than Rusch's . This kid could turn into Bobby Jenks or his weight and attitude could continue to be problems.[/b]

Who cares what Sisco did LAST yr. This yr, he has been MISERABLE. He is a headcase, that will be nothing more then a average middle reliever. But hey...Sisco and Rauch can tryout for the Bulls, since they both have size. Neither can pitch effectively, but hey let's see what they can do on the basketball court.

Fact is...Sisco is prolly not going to amount to much in MLB, and to think they could have gotten something reasonably for Sisco, is foolhardy.

Fact is? LOL!

Your speculation and short sighted dismissal of his previous year's effort is hardly fact.

If you can dismiss one good season and say he won't amount to much, then I can dismiss one bad season and say he'll still be a solid big leaguer. Either way, it's disappointing to see the Cubs lose Sisco for nothing when he could have been a valuable trading chip at the very least. Heck, Sisco could have meant the difference between Nolasco being a Cub as opposed to a Marlin.

"I'm sure it didn't hurt for him to get out of Chicago, but aside from that, he needed to get his swing straightened out," Crowley said. "Believe me, there was a lot going on that was not conducive to getting base hits, and I realized I had quite a talented player to deal with.

hooray for cubs' coaching!

"We knew it wasn't going to be an overnight thing. We tried not to change a whole lot of things. Eventually, we got him to bunt a little bit. We said we're not going to take anything away from your game, but we want to add the bunting, keep you out of slumps, keep you mentally up. One night we were fortunate enough for him to lay down a bunt and get a base hit, and from that point on, he became a force."

My GAWD. They've got the CPatt bunting now too? Oh my God man this entire coaching staff has got to GO. Now!

Braves center fielder Andruw Jones should have been suspicious. Instead, as Patterson had hoped, Jones took his time getting the ball out of his glove. When he did, Patterson turned his decoy into a dead sprint to third. Jones recovered in time to throw out Patterson...

I fail to see how that wasn't a bone-headed play. If it were Jock doing it everyone here would be calling for his head.

Corey needed to get out of Chicago. It is a damned shame that he couldn't do all of this for the Cubs. I am sure he was getting an earful of advice, but a ML player needs to adjust (from what I hear). It is obvious that a change of scenery would work magic for CP, and I am happy for him.

His success could quite possibly open eyes as to how horrible our coaching staff is for the Cubs. Just look at the guy we have as a hitting coach. Check his stats out when he played.

It is pathetic.
