  1. Ryan Howard got a cup of coffee in 2004 at age 24. He split his age 25 season at AAA and the majors, and stuck in the majors at 26. He was also highly productive as he moved up the minor league ladder. He didn't repeat levels and advanced at a solid pace. This Kroeger character repeated high A, and washed out at AAA after playing there in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and getting worse each year. His age matters because it's only now, as he approaches 25, that he's putting up these numbers after a demotion back to AA. It would be insane to suggest he has to be an upgrade to Murton. Torii Hunter was in the majors by 22. He didn't stick until 25, but he got numerous shots before then. You comparisons are pointless. as are most if not all of your "observations". Well, at least you explained why. just my opinion. why argue with a man who knows everything there is to know about baseball? That's a good question, but you could at least give it a shot. ps I usually like to base my opinions on facts facts are subject to interpetation. off the top of my head i can recall that goony was certain that padilla would be a better choice than marquis who was referred to as crap and not good. in hindsight, that was a pointless opinon/observation.

  4. he was claimed off waivers from arizona diamondbacks, 1/6/06. he's 24 not 25 btw. i dont know why his age should be an issue. howard was 26 last year in his rookie year and tori hunter didnt get a hot at the bigs until he was 27. the way he is hitting at aa, it would be insane not to give him a shot in rf. i dont know anything about his defense but he's got to be an upgrade from jones & murton.
  5. even without murton they already have too many outfielders. i'm sure they can find takers for murton and a team like the sox might be interested in jones but with pie the cubs have no need for byrnes. i say call up kroeger from aa and give him a shot in rf.
  6. both pignatello & rapada should be on the 25 man imo. get rid of ohman & eyre!
  7. just an observation: marshall following hill didnt seem to cause the issues that were predicted.
  8. He's also been rather lucky so far this season. I like the .067 IsoD, but still, something tells me he's not going to be anything more than an average everyday starter in the majors. perhaps not but: a) we'll never know what he can do unless they give him a chance b) an average everyday starter would be a big upgrade from the current production.
  9. kroeger is the guy who should be getting a shot at rf when they finally trade/dfa jones. he's hitting .361 with a 1.050 ops at aa and he hits left handed. i'm not sure what they will do with murton.
  10. sean had a great night but dont overlook kroeger going 3-4 with a hr & 2 rbi.
  11. reed?? he hasnt hit a lick since the cubs drafted him. what about craig, kroeger & mcGehee at aa? Reed is still very young and can be put at a position where offense isn't at a premium©. Craig, McGehee, and Kroeger are all bench prospects at best who are very old for their league. 24 at aa is very old?? i think i'd take the 24 year old with a 1.016 ops at aa over the 21 year old with a .464 ops in single a regardless of what position they play.
  12. it was only a matter of time. first wood then prior now z. there is no one left of the cubs big 3 of the future. what a waste of talent.
  13. i think soto will be up soon enough when they trade barrett before the deadline. just my opinion.
  14. hill can hit left handed so that is most likely the reason he was called up instead of soto.
  15. reed?? he hasnt hit a lick since the cubs drafted him. what about craig, kroeger & mcGehee at aa?
