pfft...without the hr, stolen base, and the single, he's just 0-2.

What an uncoachable bum.

Was his baserunning against Jones new found aggressiveness? Or,was he showing the same terrible instincts on the basepaths he had here?

At least we didn't have to give Baltimore $16M to take him. That would just be silly.

Corey is 2-4 tonight with a HR to right (#10), a single, and a stolen base.

But if you take away his bunt hits....ah forget it.

Not liking it doesn't make it go away...ah forget it, Patterson for MVP and Prior for Cy Young because we like them so much.

Sorry for pointing out the truths some people can't/don't want to accept.

I think Dobson's statistics pretty much debunked your whole premise.

But if you want to keep thinking that Patterson's renaissance is only due to bunt hits, go right ahead. It makes about as much sense as your claim that it has helped his SLG%.

I'm not sure the debate that is going on in this thread, but Darrin Jackson said during tonight's telecast that Patterson has 13 bunt hits this year.

srbin completely ignores the fact that was pointed out earlier that Patterson led MLB in bunting efficiency in 2004 and had quite a few bunt hits that season. He likes to pretend that bunting is something completely new to Corey and that he'd never, ever bunted for a hit in the past.

IMO Clines and Baker got too much into Coreys head and he was thinking and not hitting. Yeah, he's a bit of a free swinger but he is a good hitter and IMO an above average CF overall. Thanks to the wonderful staff assembled by Mr. Hendry we get to watch him do well in Baltimore. I hope they are helping Murton the same way they did CPatt because they do a really good job. I look forward to seeing Murton hit 300/380 for some other team someday.

The only thing that's true is that you're really good at ignoring statistics that disprove your theories.

Believe it or not, singles calculate into SLG% too. Take Corey's bunt hits/attempts out and his SLG goes down.

I don't think nearly 20% of his hits last year were bunt singles.

The ability to bunt for a hit requires skill and good coaching to be successful. I fail to see how Corey taking a greater advantage of his speed is considered a negative or should be taken with a grain of salt as far as his improvement. The most dramatic improvement w/Corey has been the amount of green lights he has been given on 1B.

Corey has always been a coachable kid and quiet sometimes to a fault. Baltimore has taken an approach that has worked w/him so far, they should be given credit for their work and Corey should be given equal amount of credit for his improvements. I'd still like to see him learn zone hitting and choke up more with 2 strikes and pepper the ball.

And Baker, Clines, and Hendry should be given a lethal dose of fire, hell, burning sulfer, and explosives for ruining CPatt and then making it sound like it was all his fault.

Believe it or not, you need to give up.

YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE AWAY PIECES THAT DON'T FIT YOUR ARGUMENT TO PRESENT YOUR ARGUMENT. COREY CAN FRIGGIN' BUNT FOR HITS ALREADY. IT'S PART OF HIS GAME, AND HE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES IT. PLENTY OF OTHER PLAYERS HAVE DONE IT -- IT'S BEEN DONE FOR DECADES. FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, THIS IS THE DUMBEST DEBATE IN THE HISTORY OF STUBBORNNESS.

Yes, but if you take out the stubbornness, you only have the dumb, and what kind of argument is that? I mean, without the stubbornness, its less of an argument.

Stop blaming our coaching staff then! That's been the point since the beginning. Don't make it sound like Elia made him a better line drive hitter when his SLG percentage, which isn't even that great now, is even lower when you take out his bunt hits....let alone his infield hits (which he has quite a few of this year). OK, this is getting ridiculous. How hard is it to my point? I can't stand watching you all say the above when it's just not true. I don't like Hendry, Baker or any of the other coaches and want them gone, but it's ignorant to make statements defaming them and giving others false praise when it's all a bunch of bologna. Though he did speak up enough to say he thought he was a "#6 type hitter"...and oh, how we and the local press mocked.
