Mabry can play a little 1b also. Gets an extra lefty bat in the line up. He was already out of the game tonight, so Walker was the only other option.

Only issue I see is that I don't know whether Restovich is currently on the 40-man roster or not. If he isn't, you'd sure think they could safely take Reyes off of it, but someone like Craig would no more about this than me.

Kyle Farnsworth suffered a knee contusion on that Robert Fick play during the 2003 playoffs, and he was pitching the very next day, so taking into account that was a playoff game, I'd say Eyre has a shot at pitching this weekend.

1. I really really like Cedeno. The kid can play. I like how he plays with so much fire. He pumped his fist after his two out, two rbi single in the 8th and then again after he dove and made the great play in the 9th. He should be our ss for years to come.

 

2. Marshall is looking better and better. Nice game.

 

3. Bullpen still looks good. Dempster is the man. Howry and Williamson did a nice job.

As long as Cedeno learns how to throw the ball better he'll be fine. People have been criticizing his defense, but it is just his throwing that's the problem. I don't think that the bullpen will be significantly compromised if Eyre is out for a while because we have other good arms.

The fact that it looks like they'll both be relatively ok notwithstanding...

 

If someone walked up to you and you didn't know it already and told you that a certain MLB team lost their best (and one of THE best) lefty specialist as well as their franchise player who they just signed to a 4/58 contract extension ON THE SAME PLAY, would you guess any team other than the Cubs?

 

I was at a friend's and his dish was acting up so I didn't see any of this game. Good comeback by the Cubs, and I'll be praying that DLee is ready to go this weekend, but I doubt it.
