Anyone else find it interesting that somebody the name of an already injured star player in their login name started the game thread during which another one of our star players and another very good player get injured?

huh? :-k

Wow that's quite the sentence...

No answer to the Scully/Charlie Steiner question? Why does Scully only do three innings on radio?

He goes to the TV for the 4th - 6th and then back to radio in the 7th - 9th.

Somewhere in that park, Raisin is throwing up as we speak

Nah, but that looked horrible - both live and on the jumbotron (replay). Most of the Cubs fans booed Furcal heartily when he came up the next time.

Seriously, season over.

Are LA fans booing?

Yes. They were booing that they had to check on Eyre too. Jerks.

For those who were complaining that the announcers were saying Lee was going to stay in - he actually grabbed his glove and looked like he was going to stay in the game. I was pretty stunned that he'd stay in, especially with how much pain he was in. About 10-15 seconds later, he walked off.

Hope Eyre and Lee's injuries aren't too bad. :(

And even if Furcal wasn't to blame, I hate him now.

Place the word "with" between "somebody" and "the name."

Mark Prior's Calves started this game thread.

As for the connection... nope, didn't find it very interesting at all.

Fortuantely I have mine.

Mark Prior's Calves started the thread. The actual Mark Prior is a star. The actual Mark Prior is also injured. On the random day that Mark Prior's Calves starts a thread our best player and MVP candidate Derrek Lee gets injured. Also on that same random day, one of the best left handed relievers in the league gets injured. Coincidence?

The fact that it looks like they'll both be relatively ok notwithstanding...

If someone walked up to you and you didn't know it already and told you that a certain MLB team lost their best (and one of THE best) lefty specialist as well as their franchise player who they just signed to a 4/58 contract extension ON THE SAME PLAY, would you guess any team other than the Cubs?

I was at a friend's and his dish was acting up so I didn't see any of this game. Good comeback by the Cubs, and I'll be praying that DLee is ready to go this weekend, but I doubt it.

If you just said an MLB team lost their franchise player today on a freak injury and asked which team it was most people would say the Cubs.

Just saw the collision on Cubs.com and I can't believe Furcal was allowed to run a good two feet inside the base line.

Wow. I missed the entire game last, and just watched it. That's what the running lane is for, Furcal. I didn't like him before this, and now I hate him even more.

Had the Brad Pitt matchup in the NCAA tourney, now this!

HA!

Among the press box crowd observing the Penny-Marshall pitching matchup was actor David "Squiggy" Lander, who was Penny Marshall's co-star on "Laverne and Shirley" back in the 1970s. "She's probably at the Lakers game tonight," said Lander, who works as an associate scout for the Seattle Mariners.

Did anyone check Furcal's pocket's for a flask?
