  2. A seat relocation question: has anyone had experience/success with a ticket rep relocating your seats? I'm out of town and my family in the area cannot re-arrange their lives around my seats  I like my seats, they are solid infield reserve perfectly placed with very few obstructions. I'd like to move closer to the field, but want to keep an unobstructed view of the batter, etc. It's a careful balance that anyone who sits for games in the seats will appreciate, but I'm not sure a random ticket agent will.
  3. Hughes was already in Oakland when Soriano broke his hand last Wednesday. I was listening to the A's pregame show and they were interviewing Hughes (which caught my attention) when the host pointed out the Cubs were up 4-0 in their game. Hughes also pointed out Soriano left the game after being hit on the hand and hoped he would be alright. So much for that. That said, I'm sure the reason for Hughes' trip could change as quickly as a key cog on your winning team can break his hand. Winn grew up in the Bay Area, but I'm sure he could be had by anyone. As for what they were discussing in the interview, it was nothing at all interesting (not "so who on this Oakland team are you interested in?"). Also, according to the radio advertisement he was forced to do with the host, Gary Hughes' favorite east coast pizzeria in the Bay Area is Amicis East Coast Pizzeria, specifically the one in San Mateo. If Hughes really has to eat at some lame pizzeria dozens of miles away from San Francisco, I feel sorry for the entire Cubs front office and their travel budget. I hate radio ads, they are so fake.
  4. I'd take the distance assuming no one invented safety-netting yet to protect from a straight-back foul ball. As for the 1907/08 business, remember we did win 2 championships back-to-back, so the magazine cover is from the previous season, but it gives faces to go with names of 1908 (which I appreciate since I am using spring break to read Crazy 08) Thanks OMC!
  5. But would the Marlins take any 5 prospects you offered. Then again, the Marlins do a better job of scouting our system than we do.
  6. I'm not saying its a mirage. I'm saying Rios struggled in his first month and so did Pie with us. The difference is the Blue Jays didn't ship Rios back to the minors or out of town, they hid him in the bottom of the order until he started hitting. My post was just saying if we play Pie now, we might just have other team's fans posting their own "5 prospects for Pie" trade in 2 years. As other posters have said, there's better use of prospects and more likely trades than a 5 for 1 deal that empties your stall of near-ready players and hurts the current rotation.
  7. I love Rios. That said Alexis Rios was given 426 AB's in his first year('04) where he stunk it up for his first month batting .230 and then dramatically improved from July to September. Stinking it up for his first month sounds familiar to a first year outfielder we have. Don't make the trade, call back Pie, pay less, keep the second best rotation(ERA wise anyways) in the NL together, upgrade elsewhere. Sounds like a plan.
  8. I would think its an allusion to Little not pulling Pedro in the playoffs a few years back (leading to him getting fired
  9. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but to add to the length of this thread for the shear fun of it, here is Ned Colletti's version of what happened on July 31st according to Medianews, some wire-service, that appeared in the Contra Costa Times (the paper of the SF east bay, apparently interviewing Colletti on his relationship with Sabean) Things started off well: Hendry played hardball even on the morning of the 31st: And then, after the Lugo trade, our fair GM apparently forgot what he was doing: PS - I saw Andre Ethier at Dodger Stadium Tuesday...I wish Jim had stuck to that "high prospect" and i wish it had been Ethier!
  10. Here is one solution: I use a tabbed browser..so, for example, in game threads, I always have a bunch of "post reply" tabbed windows open for the quick reply (which, based on my post count, I don't do often). You can do the same with a new window if you don't have a tabbed browser. This method is definitely quicker, but probably not as fast as what you have in mind.
  11. A leadoff hit, perhaps Pierre autographed photo day should be everyday?
  12. Any chance Hill is more comfortable with Quade in the park? And if that works....Can we just replace Larry with Alan Dunn?
  13. Have to like the effort though, Floyd has looked awful out there all night. Itw as almost a heads up play except Floy actually got his glove on the ball on the first try.
