Thanks, Bruce.

So it doesn't look like LaRue will be ready? I haven't heard any updates on him for a few days.

LaRue to the DL.

Welcome back to the midwest, Bruce :thumleft:

I don't know whether he should be happy or sad...

I got early lineups:

Cubs

Pierre, CF

Walker, 2B

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Jones, RF

Barrett, C

Murton, LF

Cedeno, SS

Zambrano, P

I'm so thankful Dusty is not going Lee-Jones-Ramirez 3-4-5. That would just drive me insane.

Thank god he didnt go with the "catchers gotta bat 8th" philosophy.

Well I'll miss the start of the game. But I'll be home around 2 so I'll be able to watch some. And then I'm basically coaching a girl's soccer practice tomorrow, so I think I'm grabbing the portable radio for this! Knowing we got Cubby baseball tomorrow makes everything feel great!

The lineup: Baker has announced the Cubs lineup for Monday's game. Juan Pierre will lead off followed by Todd Walker, Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Jacque Jones, Michael Barrett, Matt Murton, Ronny Cedeno and Zambrano.

Rain, rain go away: The Cubs' pre-Opening Day workout was cancelled Sunday due to a sudden rainstorm at Great American Ball Park.

The weather forecast for Monday's game is also iffy, with a slight chance for afternoon showers and falling temperatures through the 50s.

Well done Bruce. That's the lineup I want to see all year.

That's pretty close to what I'd do, except I'd bump Jones down to 7th, and move Barrett up to 5th and Murton 6th.

The Reds are dumb. Yes, who should be leading off and playing second? The guy who hit .249 with .276 OBP last year or the guy who hit .271 with a .371 OBP last year?

My prediction: Cubs win 4-3, as all 3 of the Reds' runs come off Javier Valentin solo home runs. I think his career OPS against the Cubs is 4.999.

I was sort of hoping that Murton would get a little higher up in the order...I would prefer that Dusty doesn't bat the rookies 7-8 all year unless they deserve it, and IMO Murton can bat 6th.

The storms should be out of Cincinnati sometime overnight and the current forecast has just a 0-20% chance of precipitation all day. But with the wind (still 25 mph), limited sunshine, and falling temperatures, it's not going to be all that warm.

By the way, the wind will be howling out to left/left-center the entire game.

Maybe this should be in another thread, but CC Sabathia just left the game in the 3rd inning with injury.

Bad, bad news for Cleveland.

I am an avid dusty basher at times. But I actually agree with him here. I think he is just putting him lower to start the season so there is less pressure to perform. IMO, that's the PERFECT thing to do. Don't you worry, if Murton tears it up I have NO DOUBT Dusty will bat him #6 and possibly even #5. Inbetween Lee and Ramirez maybe? Who knows but this is the perfect line-up for beggining the year. I hope #2 is always occupied by either Walker or Hairston. NO Jones, NO Neifi, NO Murton (his slugging is more useful #5).

I do not know. But it didn't take long for the Tribe to come back. 3-3.

I might drop Jones to 6th or 7th if he struggles and Murton stays hot, but that's a pretty good lineup.

It'd be nice to start out the season with a nice winning streak. Maybe 5 of 6 or something like that.

Thanks stitch. I haven't been to that forum so I didn't know it was there.

For anyone who watched BBTN... Nobody chose the Cubs wto win any playoff spot... The only good thing I saw was John Kruk thinking Zambrano will win the Cy Young... but that's it.

Narron has said he likes Freel as the utility player.

The wind blowing out to LCF favors the Cubs. That's Lee and Ramirez's power alley and the opposite for Griffey and Dunn, although it doesn't matter if Dunn gets a hold of one.
