Dee Lee thee Em Vee Pee was our 6th hitter in last year's opener, so things can sure change (for the better).

I like JJones, but I'd really like for us to havea "sure 'nuf" 5 hitter. I'm talking about a guy that will hit 30-35 homers. Not too many of those guys out there, but it would be nice.

Shouldn't that be "sho 'nuf?"

BTW, yeah, it would be nice...

Maybe they think Freel will be too hung over to play. :-k

Hung over implies that Freel won't be drinking the day of the game.

Narron has said he likes Freel as the utility player.

ah, gotta love the old 'save this guy for one strategically placed ab/late inning defensive flexibility' over getting him 4-5 ab's.

I am very pissed. Freel is a huge part of my money fantasy team...

I hope #2 is always occupied by either Walker or Hairston. NO Jones, NO Neifi, NO Murton (his slugging is more useful #5).

I'd be thrilled if Ronny hits well enough to warrant consideration for that spot. If he can continue to hit .300 and walk enough for a .350 OBP or better (high expectations, yes, unrealistic, maybe, impossible, no), I think Cedeno could make a great 2 hitter.

COME ON YOU LOSERS I TOOK THE DAY OFF OF WORK TO WATCH THIS GAME

Cubs will win tomorrow 18-3 and then proceed to score 18 runs in their next 8 games losing 6 of them.

I'm not gonna dissagree there. But I think the best Senerio for Cedeno is that he his for al "alright" average and OBP keeping Neifi on the bench most of the time, and remaining lower in the order. I have higher expectations for Murton. Just NO jones, neifi, or Murton in #2 spot please!!

That was last year, this is a new year, and a new team. They showed great ability to play small ball and get lots of runs w/o the home run this spring. And I honestly like this team alot. They have the talent to win the pennant, they just need to "gel" and I think it can happen if Dusty keeps a relatively simular line-up to today's game. And let everybody know their roles. .

God it's SO NICE to see that line-up. Pierre-Walker. And think, gee here's 2 guys who can put up a bit more than .350 OBP and these could be our main #1 and 2 guys. We couldn't say that going into last year. We couldn't say that ALL last year actually. .

One of the saving graces of having Pierre in the lineup is that Dusty will never EVER be tempted to lead off with Neifi or Mabry as long as he's starting.

I'm hoping a new contract puts a chip on Pierre's shoulder. Should give him some great incentive to be amazing this year.

Or at least I hope.

Oddly enough, if we end up making the playoffs I have a strong feeling that we'll look back and note that Pierre was the key acquisition to make it happen. I can't wait to see Slap Nasty in action.

I won't have much access to the computer tomorrow, but I'll be watching with my 2-year-old daughter in our Cubs gear.

Damn, it don't get any easier after all these years !!

Six hours, and counting.

I hear ya. Saw the line-ups, and I want to say Thank you for Bruce for posting that.

And that is not a bad line-up if you ask me. Sure we could rotate some guys around and such, but as long there is no Neifi on the line up, I don't have a problem w/ that, except every 5th day, just to give some of our starters a rest.
