I still think that even the Cardinals might not be able to squeeze good years out of ALL the average to bad players they picked up.

Bigbie

Miles

Spivey

Encarnacion

Ponson

The Cardinal magic is formidable, but not unstoppable. At least two of these guys are actually going to remain bad IMO.

Is there any doubt that Miles is going to have a Tony Womack 2004 season with the Cardinals?

None whatsoever.

God Spivey sucks.

I have no doubt. If any team can take a mediocre to horrid player and turn him into a star its the 'Cards. Tony must have some magic pixie dust or something.

Wow, what tremendous pop the middle infield of the St. Louis Cardinals has. Between Miles and Eck, they may not match Neifi Perez's HR output.

Actually, I would WELCOME this being a viable concern seeing as that would mean that Niefi got 550+ AB's in 2006.

Per LaRussa from STL Today 4/2:

"I'm going to go in there and try to win the first series," La Russa said. "I know Aaron is going to play the first game. If he does a nice job, he'll out there for the second. If he doesn't do a good job, someone else will play.

Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement to me.

Unfortunately, I think he's right on schedule to land that many at bats.

Doesn't he have to have at least 1 at bat before he can be on schedule to have 550+?

Hmm... I thought this thread was about Bruce playing 2nd base for the Cardinals.

Glad that I am wrong. Carry on.

Oh theres no doubt that Miles will have a Womack or Gruz type of year for them this year. I also think Ponson will win about 10 games which is not bad for a reasonable they got him. As long as hes not beating up priest on a beach he'll most likely do well for them. God I hate saything this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's expected to be announced today, Junior Spivey has accepted the AAA demotion!

GAH!!

Why??? Come on Junior, just pull a Billy Koch and sit in the stands and boo the Cardinals.
