  1. I agree. Although it can be almost impossible to quantify the number of runs saved by a good defensive player, it should be considered when evaluating the overall impact brought to the team (as TT has done). IMO guys like Dunn and Alou are/were so HORRENDOUS in the field that it negated much of the impact they brought at the plate. I estimate that Alou was good for -5 runs just in persistant stupidity in overthrowing the cutoff man and allowing runners to advance. That's also probably quite generous (to Alou).
  2. Whoops. I guess Marquis is on the hook for more than what I thought he was. If that's the case I'll help pack his bags.
  3. No. While Marquis is serviceable as a 5th starter, he's not even the best option on his own team. Sean Marshall should have been the starter from day one last year given his 07 performance and propensity to improve as a young starter. Furthermore, he has generally been able to go longer in his outings as well as provide more consistency from one start to the next. I'd have no problems keeping Marquis as an insurance policy given the injury history of some of our starters. However if Guzman is ready, and or Hill can make a comeback, then just what is his value to this team?? Paying a player that should be in long relief 3 million a season is ludicrous if you have better options.
  4. Not that our QB situation is ideal, but adding Favre wouldn't make much difference aside from the salary cap ramifications. Until Angelo makes the Oline more of a priority (outside overpriced washed up vets), I'm resigned to the fact the offense is going to suck. Everybody wants to slag on our qbs (sometimes rightfuflly so) but you couldn't even evaluate their play because our Oline was worthless. They couldn't create a pocket or create running lanes for the backs. Compounding the problem was the idiocy of Turner when he constantly had 5 WR schemes incorporating 5 step drops. When your line can't block 4 guys let alone 6-7 (teams would see this and bring the house every time) just WTF is the qb supposed to do? Ron set our offense up to fail so many times (the numerous toss sweeps anyone?) that I often thought he was working for the other team. With the lack of upgrades on the line, the loss of Berrian, and the return of Turner this offense figures to be a train wreck yet again. That's with or without Favre.
  5. With 2 out and nobody on I was almost going to call for Roast's or OOs (whoever predicted we were going to score this innings) soul. But I guess luck was in the cards.
  6. Yay. Hahaha. I almost thought that hit lee on the first bounce
  7. That was close. Now they should just put him on.
  8. Not that it's the wrong move but Ozzie might be doing us a favor.
  9. This is one instance where I'd like to see Aram be a little aggressive. We don't have anybody behind him that can knock anybody in.
  10. Glad you put the quotation marks there. Giving up 3 runs against this lineup in this weather is pretty pathetic. Especially when you're the "ace".
  11. It's hard to forget when he rearranges himself after EVERY SINGLE PITCH!
