According to the Suntimes, Hendry is still talking to LA about Bradley, but insisted on Dusty meeting with the player before consummating a deal. Dusty met with Bradely with Colletti's approval last month.

But Bradley will be traded, and the Cubs remain in the picture. Baker was able to glean from Bradley in their brief discussion that he would be a valuable addition if a trade can be brokered.

''We had a Sunday-go-to-meeting talk on a Wednesday,'' Baker said. ''I flew there for lunch and flew back after that. We had a great conversation.

"I wanted to get a good reading on him, and we covered every issue. I was aware of all the things that have gone on. But I equated it to Carl Everett, who has been great for the last couple years.''

but do we actually want him? I prefer the suggestion in the trib this am (I think it was the trib) take the money we were going to pay for Furcal and instead go get Manny. Sure, he's a head case, but entertaining and just about the best pure RBI machine out there.

''We had a Sunday-go-to-meeting talk on a Wednesday,''

What in the crap does this mean?

That's an old expression. In it's true sense, it has to do with getting dressed up to go some place (namely church). It can also be used to describe a formal meeting. It sounds like something my grandfather would say. Dusty's showing his age.

Anyway, whether we get him or not this dispels the myth the the Cubs haven't been doing anything (except chasing Furcal and bullpen guys) for the last month. Good to know.

A Sunday-go-to-meeting talk is a synonym for a "Come to Jesus" meeting. It's basically where everything is laid out on the table with no abandonment for thoughts, feelings, etc. People say what's on their mind with no apprehension. We've had a couple of these where I work.

I have to think Hendry is turning away from Pierre now and leaning towards making the run at Bradley which is great the Cubs need to take a risk on this guy because he has such a high upside.

Bradley should also come pretty cheap in terms of players involved in a trade.

Well, in my opinion, he would be a great five hitter for this lineup. Of course, thats assuming Hendry is not gonna get Manny or Abreu or any big time player. I would love Bradley and then move on to other pieces.

get him, get him, get him.

According to MLB/Home Plate on XM radio Bradley is expected to be traded to the A's. Some reports say for Zito some don't say who. I don't know where people said Dusty was going to meet him but it was mentioned that Dusty had just walked by and they expect to talk with him later today on this station.

So the plot thickens for Bradley!!! :D

Since Hendry seems bent on trading TWalk, I think he'd be a great candidate to hit behind whoever ends up being our leadoff man. Either way, I wouldn't complain with him in our lineup.

Couldn't the Cubs just go:

Wilkerson CF

Walker 2B

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Bradley RF

Murton LF

Barrett C

Cedano SS

Pitcher

I think I would like that lineup.

I heard a report on the Score today while driving into work that contradicts this. They said that based on their "source", Bradley's preference was to play for the A's. But they also implied that it was Bradley's decision to make. I was under the impression that he was still under contract with the Dodgers. In any case, it seems to be another failure by Dusty, the great recruiter.

Yeah, the Score has been saying all day that Bradley was leaning toward the A's as if it were his choice. Then again, Murph is still gainfully employed, so that tells you a little something about the Score...

Bradley is under contract but the Dodgers are sick of his issues and will ship him out for basically anything. If Beane is really offering Zito for him he's out of his mind.

Bradley is arbitration eligible though. If he isn't traded by the end of the week the Dodgers could non tender him and Bradley would become a free agent. Gammons said on Baseball Tonight just a little while ago that the A's aren't trading for Bradley. Take it for what it's worth.
