Anyone see the postgame interviews? (7/16/06)

How is anything I said ignorant or bigoted? What, if someone mentions the Gay games, their a bigot? If you ask me, anyone who thinks what I said was malicous or bigoted in anyway, is ignorant. There is nothing wrong with being gay and NO WHERE did I say so. Nice try though, sporto. -

I don't know what's a bigger joke, this thread or the responses in it glorifying Todd Walker for being "accountable" for being a terrible 2nd basemen. Sure, ok it was very commendable for taking responsibility for not making plays my 8 year old autistic niece could make, fine. Is this all you Walker apologist's have now? He's taking responsibility for sucking? You've got to be kidding me!!!! If it wasn't so funny, the insanity of it would be maddening!! What's next? Pie went 0-8 but atleast he didn't strike out?? He'll be fine?? Listen to yourselves peoples!! By some of your comments about Todd Walker, I'd think you just got back from the Gay games and not the Cubs game. -
Minor League Discussion & Boxes 7-6-2006

I'm gonna get flamed for this opinion and it might be considered blasphemy by some to make such an opinion on his "pitching day" but, Hill isn't do anything different in Iowa than he was doing before the Cubs called him up. He's absolutely dominating. Having said that, I can tell you from what I saw of him in the Majors, is a guy with 2 pitches and who had trouble locating his curve and most importantly his fastball and couldn't keep his fastball down in the zone. In the Majors that equals diasaster. He obviously can get by with his curve in the Minors but in the Majors he won't be able to survive with just his curveball and not overpowering fastball, which again, he couldn't keep down in the zone. Has he magicly come up with a quality 3rd pitch in Iowa? That would be great and hopefully he has improved his change up and added a quality cutter, which he has to come up with to be successful at the MLB level. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve another chance, cuz I think he does. He does deserve 1 more chance to prove himself and hopefully alot of his struggles were due to putting much pressure on himself, but he still has to come up with an quality cutter to be an effective pitcher at this level. He is getting hot though in the right time, if you know what I mean. -
if dempster did his job we'd be 32-44 with a .421 winning percentage. that's a heck of a lot better than 28-48 with a .386 winning percentage You're kidding right?

He's had 15 Save Opportunities this year. I don't think the closer role is what's killing this team.

The Brewers feed tonight kept showing 2 guys with "fire Dusty" shirts and signs. Let's hope this trend spreads. I was displeased to see the paper bag craze last only 2 games.

Watching him pitch yesterday brought a wonderful and permanent smile on my face yesterday and for the first time this year really, had me feeling good about the Cubs. Not this year ofcourse, but I think they're heading into the right direction and have some nice pieces to build around. Marmol reminded me of a young Pedro Martinez actually. Not at all saying he will have his success but with his mound presence and his overall moxy combined with his nice change up and 4 seamer, he just reminded me of a young Pedro. Not bad.

And you already thought he was the worst catcher in baseball, so thank you for your clearly unbiased opinion on the topic. What does him being a poor Defensive Catcher have to do with him proving he's a punk and a whiny unsympathetic one at that? I don't have any problems with Barrett the hitter and actually like him and root for him, cuz afterall I am a Cubs fan and do wish him well. I will also admit that he has indeed improved (however slight it may be) defensively this season. But again, the only reason people are coming to his defense on this incident, is cuz he wears a Cubs jersey and if he was wearing any other jersey than a Cubs jersey, would be called out for what he really is. That's the simple truth. Try being an objective fan once in awhile. It's sad that the majority of Cub fans are thrilled by this incident, cuz it's all Cub fans have to get excited about. It was a dumb action and he was wrong for his action on so many levels, but yet Cub fans think what he did was justified? They obviously don't know the game if they feel Barrett had a right to do what he did. Not only was he wrong and out of line, but he will cost his team atleast 5 games and it was selfish.

I'm absolutely amazed people are celebrating Barrett's totally uncalled for cheap shot. You're going to block the plate and then throw a hissy fit when someone runs you over? AJ's hit was 100% legal and a part of Baseball. If Barrett is going to cry about it, he shouldn't be catching. Barrett's proved to me over the last couple years to be nothing but a poor sport and instead of rationally analyzing a certain situation, will act out on his emotions and becomes a whiny crybaby in my book. Just last week he peesed me off with his antics by not only confronting Roberts about a situation he should've LET GO and worry about himself, but he did it with HIS MASK ON!!! If you're going to behave like a petulent child, atleast be a man and take your mask off. His sucker punch on AJ was Bush and another example that some of you will use blind loyalty with certain Cub players. What he did was embarrassing to me and am amazed so many are coming to his defense and saying "atleast someone has fire on this team". That's a total joke. I was amazed to see him even blocking the plate, for I've never seen him do that before. Now I know why.

That trade is not a TBD. Bynum the bum is a joke. The guy can't even hit a fastball. How do you make it to the Majors and consistently not hit a fastball? Not saying Koronka is going to tear it up for the Rangers, but anything with an arm, will get the better of the deal when Bynum is involved.

Like a fine wine... (All about the Mad Dog)

I was at last nights game and was the first time I've gotten a chance to see Maddux in person. He controlled the whole flow of the game and the word I used last night was "mesmerizing". Simply a great experience. Here's a good article from the LA Times, and the writer uses the same kind of analogy and called him a hypnotist. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dodgers18apr18,1,707057.story?coll=la-headlines-sports -
Dodgers designated Ross for assignment. I'd much rather have him over Kenny buh bye num.

THE worst Defensive Catcher I've ever seen

Ok I might've overreacted just a little. I admitted I was wrong, now it's time for some of you to do the same. If I would've said that he is just simply a terrible Defensive Catcher, would more agree? How 'bout this, does anyone think Barrett is actually a good Defensive Catcher? Raise your hand. I want to see a show of hands. Best I can say for Barrett is slightly below average. -

Pretty bad when defending someone you can't even defend him and go WAY off topic. Game would've been tied if not for Barrett's 2 bonehead plays. This was only the 2nd game folks, get used to seeing this all year. it's not off topic at all. you said 'chalk this one up to barrett' as if he was the lone reason the cubs lost. that obviously wasn't the case, as evidenced by the walks and home runs. look, we're all fighting with you because you took the picture of that blonde chick out as your avatar and replaced it with some sort of corny sunburst thing. Switch it back and we'll all agree with you. HA! That was http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0102497/ Went to High School with her at Crystal Lake South when her first name was Eve. She was SMOKIN then to. And that corny logo is of the Mesa Solar Sox, affiliate of the Cubs Fall League. I dig it. Even have a hat. -

An overreaction can't be something I've said for the past 3 seasons. I find it a little hard to understand how people can actually defend his Defensive abilities. Seriously. Do you actually watch the games? Amazing. Like I said, very good hitter but c'mon he is a TERRIBLE Catcher. This garbage is nothing new here. SO again, let's all just agree as a whole and move onto another topic we can easily disagree on and LEGITAMTELY debate, for example whether or not it's impossible for a team to win the Division with Jones hitting 5th in the order. Hey, I don't like his defense/game calling either, but he's the best we have. You don't want to see Blanco or Soto starting, do you? No, just for everyone on here who have defended his atrocious Catching abilities and actually think he's good behind the plate to swollow their pride (or pull their heads out of the as$es) and admit he is not only not good, he's plainly terrible. Have you been talking to the guy who says Cedeno is plainly Crap. You guys should meet. No that wouldn't be me. I wanted Cedeno to start and get a chance for the last year but nice try by avoiding topic again. Another person who can't actually defend this clown and has to generalize and say something really ridiculous and by trying to lump me in on another completely different topic. Absurd. This is actually quite amusing. Are people defending him cuz he's a Cub? Just curious? It is alright to be realistic about a player on your favorite team, you do know that right?
