  1. It's all relative. Aaron didn't have some advantages that Bonds has today and vice versa. Either way, Bonds should be vetoed from baseball. Aaron is still my Home Run king (and should be everyone else's) until someone NOT juiced up pounds more homers. Make that chicken Sh*t Bonds take that big a** pad off his elbow and let him step into a pitch. The worthless jerk would be bailing out on every pitch. He's a loser and a disgrace to baseball at all levels.
  2. They don't have to "convince" Floyd to be a bench player, they need to TELL him that. Floyd doesn't make playing time decisions; Lou does. Well, Lou needs to start making better ones. For all his talk, the vets get a lot of playing time. That's pretty much always been the case with Lou. He's almost as bad as Baker for having a veteran fetish. I don't see that in Lou at all. When did Baker start 3 rookies in one game as Lou did Wednesday night? As far as playing Floyd over Murton? Maybe if Murton would have been hitting the ball better he would have gotten the majority of the playing time. All I see is lou playing to win games.
  3. Wait a minute. Do they allow walking canes on the field? Last I knew he had major surgery on his right knee and was in a wheelchair. :D
  4. Not that I disagree with you. But at the trading deadline and the Cubs are in the hunt, I don't believe Hendry will trade Jones. Unless its for upper level salary dump by the other team.
  5. Give me that 1998 salary for the last 10 years and I'd be the happiest person on earth.
  6. I guess we know what motivates Santana. I just lost a lot of respect for him. That quote there represents alot of things that are wrong with professional sports today. As you say, that's what is wrong with pro sports. That includes Pryor and the rest of them.
  7. I'm up for it again this year.
  8. \ Quite simple actually. Why pitch a full season for 17M when someone will pay you the same to pitch 1/2 a season? Call him that mid-season pickup and run for the play-offs.
  9. A better question would be: Are Sammy's "indiscretions" enough to ignore what he brought to Chicago, the Cubs, and the game of baseball? Again, I have my problems with Sammy, but I also have alot of GREAT memories. I have more great memories of Sammy then I do bad memories. He's a HOF and he's a Cub. The Cub organization should cherish that relationship, not tarnish it. I know it was bad in the end between them, but it should be a relationship that is repaired. First off, I don't believe the Cubs tarnished the relationship. Sammy did. Second of all what did Sammy bring to Chicago? Yes, it was fun to watch him hit all those HR's. Although a ton of them were either solo's or when the game was as much as over. These aren't just my statements on this board but several others here. What else did he accomplish? A couple of playoff apprearances and ALOT of losing seasons? Yes, he wasn't to blame for those losing seasons. But he also wasn't a difference maker to stop those losing seasons. Walked out on the team because he wasn't happy? Articles I've been reading over the last few months are putting Big Macs chances as a HOF'er. Where does Sammy fall into a situation where he's an automatic for the hall? Hey, I'm not looking to upset anyone. I was as big a fan of his as anyone. But when it came down to it he wasn't able to seal the deal when it was needed the most. IF he gets into the hall for some reason then I believe the Cubs will retire his number as they have all the others. Everyone one have a Merry Christmas
  10. I agree. I'm a Wells fan. (At least from a fantasy standpoint.) One thing I do like of the proposed trade is another catching prospect in the Cubs system. They seem to be few and far between. Maybe the Cubs feel its not as important to work in that area.
  11. 8 years is a long time. But it also might be a steal by that time. I like the signing. Everyone says he's a good clubhouse guy so for those who think in line of team chemistry he works. I'm glad the Cubs have him.
