If we can get Pierre for two mid-level prospects then that's a good thing, I guess.

I think both of them have too much service time to count as rookies in 2006, but I don't know if that means they're big leaguers.

Let's make our predictions:

Sergio Mitre and Ricky Nolasco.

I'd do backflips. I don't much like Mitre and I haven't heard a lot of great stuff about Nolasco.

do Murton and Cedeno qualify as "minor leaguers"?

well, at least we're coming up with a way around Furcal at leadoff.

I have a feeling one of either Murton or Cedeno will be moved in this trade. Beinfest is a very good GM. They will want someone who is ML ready. I will listen to updates on the local sports radio down here in S. FL. I'll let you know if I here anything different.

I'll be happy to see Pierre in CF this year. Count me in the minority. I hope the deal goes through.

I wouldn't mind the 2003 or 2004 Pierre, I'd hate the 2002 or 2005 Pierre. Personally I have no faith that he'll produce.

I don't think we'll give up Murton or Cedeno, no way. Everybody knows that Florida is up the creek without a paddle, and I haven't even heard of huge interest out of anyone to get Pierre. I'm going to predict Mitre and another mid level prospect.

It'd better not be Murton, Cedeno, or Pie. I'm game for just about anyone else to be traded for Pierre.

I don't think Murton and Cedeno are considered minor leaguers at this point, as they finished the season on the 25 man roster, and are projected to start next season on it as well.

well maybe he has Farnsworth type of pattern but instead of being good in Odd years he has a bad year and then 2 good years. :P

Could Greenburg be involved, he is quite "Pierre like", could maybe step in and play center/lead off. I could see him and Mitre being the two getting shipped out. I think Greenburg is going to be a productive player if he gets a shot.

i agree with you, i'll add Hill in too as a player that better not be shipped out to Florida.

also..mods could you please edit the title of this thread. Was a little bit too long

Remember guys, to the causal fan and stupid reporters Pierre is a “marquee” guy. I bet a team will have to overpay a little to get him because of the great PR he'll generate. Edited by CardsFanInChiTown

Here's my guess: Corey Patterson, JK Ryu and Geovanny Soto. Marlins need a backup catcher, and they are rumored to be shopping Paul LoDuca. Ryu is a solid prospect but someone we can't protect prior to the Rule 5 draft. Patterson is a goner, it's just a matter of where to.

I don't think there's any way Murton, Cedeno or Pie are at risk of being moved, especially for Juan Pierre. Rich Hill, that is a tougher nut. I'm not a big Rich Hill fan, but I think he should net more than Juan Pierre. So here's the trade I fear:

Patterson, Hill and Ryu. That's too much.

Pierre is not a marquee name. He's known but even the casual fan knows he's not a star.

Yeah, I guess marquee is a little strong. However, he's the kind of player that gets way over hyped by the media.

At least Pierre means no more Macias or Neifi batting lead off.

I'm not sure that Pierre makes any more sense than Lofton for a year. There is quite the roadblock in center with Pierre on board, assuming that a CF isn't involved in the deal back, anyway.

Pierre, Patterson, Hairston, Greenberg and Pie.

Can Pierre be included in a package to Phily for Abreu? Florida may not want to deal with Phily, but the Cubs sure could.
