Where is SweetEmotion? Would he like to refute Mr. Miles?

Let's just say that SweetEmotion had his 15 minutes of fame. Hope he enjoyed it. I'm really going to miss him.

In the meantime, how can we get Mr. Bruce Miles to subliminally inspire Hendry to work a deal for Adam Dunn? As you can see by this threads popularity, WE WANT ADAM!!

gonna have to go against Bruce there's no way Hendry does not do a Hill for Dunn. If the line had been along Hill and Patterson is not much a match for Dunn with Hendry. But to come out and say Hendry wouldn't do a Hill for Dunn straight up has to be wrong.

I gotta agree. I don't think the Cubs value Hill that much.

There is no way Hendry would trade a pitcher like Hill to a division foe, for merely Adam Dunn.

For what it's worth, I was listening to the game here in Cincy on 700 WLW, and Jim Hendry stopped by to say "hello" to Marty Brennamen and Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News. Marty said he asked Jim about the Dunn for Mitre, Hill, and CP rumor...and said Jim laughed and said that would be too steep of a price to give up for Dunn. From this, Marty implied that the offer had been on the table, but Hendry declined. McCoy agreed that this was too steep. Let me reiterate, Marty implied this, he was not told that the offer had actually been made.

Just letting you know what I heard during the game here in Cincy. Nothing else has been said. This might reinforce what Bruce had to say earlier though.

Marty Brennaman actually asked a GM about an internet message board rumor?

Sweet Emotion are you there??????

Are you willing to still stand by what you have said. If not it is time to come out and tell what is going on. If it is a joke, let it out of the bag. If you are willing to say Miles is wrong and he will see along with the rest of us, then say that!!!!!!

someone in the "game thread" reported hearing on LA radio something to the effect that Dunn was possibly going to the Dodgers - which would also stand to reason why they brought Kearns up.

If you think about it, that actually lends credibility to SweetEmotion. I personally doubt that the Reds broadcasters follow a Cubs MB. They could have heard the same rumor that SE heard. Anything's possible. Either way, it doesn't look like a deal's gonna happen but at least something has confirmed SE.

Yeah, that's true.

Isnt there a poster on here called the optimist? Well I will take his place tonight and point out the fact that maybe we get Dunn for CP, Mitre and Marshall? :D

How many away games does Hendry go to? Is he there to negotiate with the Reds face-to-face?

All of them would be my guess.

No he doesn't. I don't know specifically how many he goes to, but I know it's not all of them.

Yeah, that's true.

Or maybe Bruce was on here earlier (which he was but didn't post) and read the rumor, spoke to Hendry and spoke to Marty.

This thing was bogus from post #1. Classic troll tactics only wrapped up a little more sophisticatedly.

Tonights game was the game Hendry was attending. He doesnt attend every game. I believe I heard Kasper talking about Hendry being at the game Wednesday over the past weekend. I might have also heard Hendry talking about being there Wednesday on the Score earlier this week too. Edited by nolanwood

Agreed. Glad he's gone.

With all due respect, I think we're giving ourselves too much credit if we think that a rumor went from NSBB to Miles to Brennaman to Hendry in 20 hours. Obviously this rumor was in broader circles.

With all due respect, Mr. Miles reads this website on an almost daily basis and sometimes we are lucky enough to have him talk baseball with us. Bruce is at the game right now. And he thought enough of this website to quell the stupid rumor before anymore of us went crazy with speculation and anticipation. He is one hellofa nice guy.

Exactly. If anything, this should give some credibility to the poster who started this thread.

If Marty specifically asked Hendry about the exact same offer, it's clear that it wasn't something just made up by sweetemotion.

The rumor had wings, regardless of where it came from. It likely isn't true, time to move on from this one. Hendry knows the Cubs have holes, I assume it is at LF and relief, I believe he will address one of the two areas, hopefully both. There will be other rumors from various websites and media outlets from now till July as well as August when teams release players to trade them later.

I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to suggest that the rumor was picked up by a Reds message board (or started there, as well) that Marty reads.

There was other evidence suggesting that sweetemotion wasn't on the level.

I'm recognize and agree with all of that. I'm simply saying that the fact that Brennaman pressed Hendry on it is a pretty good indication that this rumor is coming from multiple directions.

It seems like O'Brien is making offers to interested clubs, rather than soliciting them.

It would not be particularly surprising if he was then leaking those offers in some sort of misguided effort to gin up fan pressure for the opposing GMs to make a trade.
