Yeah i know. Theres no way they sit him just for the hell of it when Wood is pitching. Although they did sit him in front of his family in Texas that one time just for the hell of it.

I also doubt that Dunn would magically appear in the lineup tonight.

To my knowledge, this isn't what they're suggesting anyway. They're just seeing if the Reds hold Dunn out of their lineup...

I have to admit it will be interesting to see if he plays tonight!!!

If he sits then he's getting traded period.

Dunn has killed wood in his career.

This is from cbssportsline. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/preview/MLB_20050720_CHC@CIN

OK, guess my thinking of maybe Kearns plays for Dunn tonight to give him a day off is out of the question.

It was said that Cruz was going to play in his spot tonight.

Exactly. If he sits, he's being traded. Its as simple as that. With wood pitching, they wont sit him for gits and shiggles.

It'll be interesting.

Well, I would love to acquire Dunn, and I know how many sabermetric people on here are going nuts over this, but I think he could be had for less than Patterson, Hill, and mitre. Mitre will go in pretty much any deal, but I think the Cubs could do just him and Patterson to make this trade. Pie and Hill are really the only prospects that I would get pissed about the Cubs trading. Hill really can be a Barry Zito type of pitcher in my opinion, and do you want to trade him into the division? The Reds haven't had any pitching the last 2 seasons, and the Cubs would be giving them 2 pitchers that would probably go right into the Reds rotation. Patterson might hit as many homers as Dunn in that park, who knows. I just wonder if this is the right guy for the Cubs to get. He's 25, and has a tremendous ops, and the potential for 50 homers a season. There's no doubt about that. However, Hendry lately has shown the desire to get players that can play small ball. He called up Greenberg and Murton, both tremendous fundamental hitters, great obp, etc. Dunn has what, 1 career sac fly? In the big situations, he is a guaranteed strikeout against premier pitchers. Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic to acquire this guy, but maybe we are getting a little too excited about him. Just sayin.

Hitting between Lee and Ramirez, or Ramirez and Burnitz and I think you will see his Avg. Homeruns, and RBI's increase

I definitely agree with that. Having Burnitz or Nomar hit 7th (assuming Nomar is back in the next couple weeks) is a scary thought. It just seems like so many people think that this guy is the complete jackpot. He is a great player with the potential to get better in so many ways. However, I don't see that long swing shortening up anytime soon. I'm just saying that there are some serious negatives with this guy too, but you'll find that in just about every player anyway.

Okay, so can we assume if Dunn IS in the lineup, that he is not coming to the cubs?

It does seem strange that he would play against us if a deal is indeed in place.

Yeah, that's a real problem for a message board, especially seeing how the guys with thousands of posts are always so chock-full of information and valuable insights.  I mean, I never get tired of hearing about posters next exam, or how their golf game went, that's always gold Jerry, gold!!!

Yea. If the trade does happen ( I still consider this thread bunk, btw. But things that have happened have made it intersting) it'll probably happen after the game tomorrow.

(Disclaimer: I haven't been past page 17 yet, but I'm assuming it just goes on.... and on... and on.... and on....)

All this cooky crazy kitchy quirky comedy is GREAT.

Or it would be... if it were funny.

It's fun to speculate, which is why this thread has grown to the size it has. It's also a no brainer in my mind that you offer the world for Dunn. Cincy needs pitching and we have that.

A guy like Dunn could mean an opportunity to make the playoffs, THIS YEAR!

If Dunn were really on the verge of being dealt, no way the Reds risk having him play tonight. Game over on this rumor.

Interesting lineup from the Cubs.

Holy crap! Burnitz is playing centerfield and Gerut is leading off! Not at all what I was expecting.

Not what Dusty was expecting either, but that's the way the Wheel of Lineup spun today.

Same to you. I guess the other guy bashing the new poster was fine though, no need for him to "lighten up." Ridiculous.
