  1. Mike Brumley, Angel Salazar and Paul Noce's complete lack of surprise.
  2. If by this evening the Cubs are still in possession of Felix Pie, Matt Murton, Ron Ce and Rich Hill, that'll be plenty good enough for me. I'm far less excited about who Hendry may acquire than I am fearful of what he may at the last minute resign himself to having to give up.
  3. That would be proof of the existence of God. The best part is where Dusty refused to deny it. No trade Hendry could possibly make today could even approach the excitement I'm feeling right now at the mere mention that Dusty even might be about ready to re-mount the horse he rode in on.
  4. This quote should be in every signature on NSBB in extra-large type until people get the point. No. It shouldn't. The whole "No Trade Clause" thing is more than obnoxious enough already. Everybody has been made well aware of the clause by now numerous times. And still there are more than enough people who are all too eager to point it out yet again anytime anyone intimates that it might, just might not be completely and utterly impossible, barring an act of God himself, to get Hendry, another GM and Wood himself to agree upon a deal. (Because in this particular case nobody has yet been, and nobody's gonna be, challenged for presuming to know what's going on inside the minds of a player and his wife at any given time. Nor will the presumption that Kerry's [already only assumed to be known] position on accepting a trade will, or ever could, change. It's common knowledge. Kerry will never, ever accept a trade under any circumstances and that's all there is to it. Right? Isn't that the prevailing wisdom?) Believe me, there is absolutely no chance the clause won't be mentioned (more than once) each and every time it's even remotely relevant. There's actually less chance of that than there is of Wood accepting a trade. Automating the process would only be taking the fun out of taking an indignant stance re: any and all trade scenarios involving Wood.
  5. I've been listening to ESPN Radio since 6am [EDT] and, while I'm in the office and I have the volume turned way down, I haven't heard a word about Wood. Mike & Mike talked a LOT about Soriano and the Cubs, and Cowherd has touched on it too, but I haven't heard Wood's name mentioned at all. In fact, I don't recall having heard anybody on ESPN Radio speculate this morning about who would be going to Texas, were Soriano to be headed to Chicago. That said, I definitely could have missed it and I make NO judgements whatsoever about the validity what Weltazar is saying he heard.
  6. This thread sure has a whole lot of everything, doesn't it? The whole NSBB experience in a nice little nutshell. This thread highlights all the great reasons to sign up for NSBB Premium. But even more than that, it really highlights all the reasons many of us never will. And I'll just leave it at that. If I may offer an unsolicited suggestion: It would probably be a good idea for several of the participants in this thread to relax, set aside the indignation, insecurity, condescension, sarcasm and bloodlust, take a second to reflect on their posts when this thread finally reaches its conclusion, and consider the possibility that their words might be keeping Tim in the red to a greater extent than their premium subscription fee is pushing him closer to the black. That the traits they put on display daily do more to undermine the efforts they claim to support than any solitary (assumed) "troll" could even approach. Perhaps while you're at it, you might consider the *gasp* positive effects of the traffic, new registrations, general excitement and galvanizing effect on the "community" that this low-down, dirty, nasty "troll" has brought about. Ironic, isn't it? Like I said, just a suggestion. What do I know? Feel free to dismiss out of hand and rejoin your regularly-scheduled posse.
  7. (Disclaimer: I haven't been past page 17 yet, but I'm assuming it just goes on.... and on... and on.... and on....) All this cooky crazy kitchy quirky comedy is GREAT. Or it would be... if it were funny. (Okay, back to page 18, see you in a half hour.)
  8. This thread still hasn't been moved? Interesting.
