I hate threads like this. The whole time the thread continues I just continue to slowly rise my hopes and eventually it all leads to disaster.

With Nomar I wasn't even around to see it until it actually happened so there wasn't so much stress.

I'm really torn. I dont know whether to beleive him or not. My brain says NO NO NO NO NONONONONONONONO. But, boredom and lack of any other information wants me to beleive he is right.

I'm trying as hard as I can to not believe this thread. I just hate it when stuff like "A guy from the Reds is getting sent to the bigs!" in the middle of a thread. It makes me have hope.

Nothing is worse than hope.

Dunn for CP, Mitre and Hill - sounds too good to be true. Especially from a first time poster.

If someone is pulling a goof like this they picked the right board to do it on.

Montgomery Burns would be exxx-cellent.

Obviously Gammons has been wrong before, but he just indicated in his chat that the latest out of Cincinatti is that Dunn " IS NOT" going anywhere.

You just beat me to this.

He says Dunn & Kearns "aren't available." Then said the Cubs aren't likely to make any "big" trade, though a deal for someone like Byrnes is possible.

Hopefully he means Ken Byrnes or Monty.

The funniest part was, just as he was saying it on ESPNews, the ticker at the bottom read "3-Team Trade Announced" or something like that.

Like I said. Priceless.

I am now fairly confident we get Dunn.

WAY TO GO GAMMONS!

lol, why do you say that? And don't say it's because of 300+ posts and 9000+ views in less than a day. . .

Sorry, he said "Eric Byrnes." I should have been more specific.

I still want a sign of some sort..............I mean I just think it is weird if Dunn is in the line-up tonight trying to beat the cubs when the 2 teams have agreed in principle to a deal. I guess i just don't know how it all works. I will say this--the reds have been real active today--makes you think the wheels are churning for thme. I guess we just wait.............................more

Tell us more Sweet, more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They already said cruz will be starting tonight. Makes me think if Dunn sits maybe hes a cub. If Griff sits, maybe hes a yank. But Cruz can only play rf and lf or 1b so there for they would have to put someone else in center other then cruz. So it makes more since for Dunn to sit in place of him.

Where is Hoops? Has he posted on this at all?

Yep, about 15 pages ago...

To save you the time, CUBZ99, of looking for it, I'll summarize: He didn't see it happening.

We just need to get hoops back here with a firm yes or no so we can save hundreds of pages of posts.

Who's Adam Dunn?

Seriously though, this has got to be the greatest thread this year, regardless of whether this deal goes through or not.

Sweetemotion's rumor could be complete crap, but I don't see the harm in kicking the rumors around anyway.

But it's obvious that the Reds are ready to do something. They added Freel and Kearns and opened two spots on their 40 man roster today.

Could be a trade to anybody, but something's going on. Especially given the weird man-love Dan O'Brien has for Machado, he would not have risked losing him just to tell Kearns he's not grounded anymore.

What you need to fear is that one of the outfielders is headed someplace worse than Houston.

St. Louis.

Edited because spelling is phun.

Well, in the link to the Reds blog posted a few pages back, it stated that Cruz is starting in right. And the people at Redszone seem to think Kearns being called up means a trade is imminent, but they think Wily Mo is gone. (although some have speculated Jr could be gone and Wily Mo will shift into center--only in Cincy could they think the worst fielding right fielder in baseball is the best choice for center... ).

Whatever is or isnt happening, I do find it strange that now they decide to recall Kearns when they hae had plenty of chances before and left him in AAA--even when he was hitting well. The timing is odd, but DanO and logic have never been friendly companions.

Yeah, he posted earlier a while back... he's skeptical like many of us are.

I agree completely about kicking around rumors. As for people who complain about how bogus this rumor is, I understand where you're coming from. But people like myself sometimes really like this sort of thing, even if nothing is legitimately iminant. Besides, name one thing that is both agonizingly tense and fun, as this . . .
