Cubs real close to getting Dunn (Shot down by Bruce Miles)

If this is a hoax, I don't even have to curse you. Anyone who gets their jollies by posting false trade information online must have some serious self-esteem issues.

 

It's a gamble either way because even if he is legit, several things can happen between now and then to dissolve a deal. Remember the Bruce Levine rumor, I have every reason to believe it was true, but something happened (like Remmy getting hurt) and deal never came true and Levine looked like an idiot.

 

Levine is legitimate media with a proven track record. Doesn't it strike you as odd that the Cubs are about to acquire the best player on the team they've been playing the last two days and none of the Chicago media that's been in town for 3 days has an inkling?

 

 

Nobody really believes this will happen but enough people really want it to happen and are bored so what the heck.

 

I'm fine with discussing the merits of a trade. I hate to see guys come on here to get peoples' hopes up, then turn around and laugh at them for their gullibility. Remember a couple of months ago some guy reported that Dunn and Graves were on a flight to Chi.?

Hey, just reporting what I read :lol: . I am sure his being recalled is pretty much a coincidence, but all I know is, if Dunn is out of the lineup today or tomorrow, this board will officially explode.

That's nothing. There was some loser on Cubs.com that faked his own death just to get attention. I couldn't believe anyone would bother doing something like that but was wrong.

 

I've seen these rumor threads too many times to get my hopes up but on the other hand I really don't see the harm. A bunch of people waste some time thinking about this. If they had more pressing things to do they'd be doing them.

Who cares if its his first post or not, doesn't mean he doesn't know anything. Plus add to the fact that he has a huge disclaimer in the front...can't we just take it as a maybe like every other rumor is whether its media, friend, or other wise?

I don't think they're going to DL Weathers. He's quoted as saying he'll only be out a couple days. And even if he was DL'ed it wouldn't take away from the fact that the Reds have 4 outfielders who deserve to play on the team right now. Why bring him up if he's just going to play half the time while Pena plays the other half?

The difference is that you've been here long enough to have already established enough credibility to get the benefit of the doubt. That's a lot different than someone making their first post to say that they know that the most talked about trade is about to happen.

Personally, I just can't believe they would do a trade like this while in Cincinatti. Can you imagine what it would be like to have one of the stars of your team batting against you one day after being in your dugout?

 

Of course, last year, I went to a Twins-Red Sox game the day of the Nomar trade. Doug Mientkewicz got a standing O the first time he came up for the Red Sox, and he had batted for the Twins the previous night. But he wasn't an Adam Dunn type of figure.

With the Reds getting rid of Machado and Romano, it does free up some 40 man roster space if I'm looking at it right...

 

EDIT: The guys at RedsZone think that a Pena trade is imminent.

Actually, it makes perfect sense to do the deal while The Cubs are in town, especially since Mitre is with the Cubs and all that has to happen is Hill and Patterson report to the Reds minor league affiliate (assuming they don't bring Patterson up quick like)
