Sorry for the long delay guys, I was out excercising for a while, just got home and called up my source. He had some new info for me: The trade is definitely still on. Dunn being in the lineup tonight for Cincy really doesn't mean anything, the trade is likely to be completed/announced by tomorrow. The Reds want to wait until this series is over to complete the deal, so expect an announcement tomorrow evening. Cincinnati called up Kearns in order to take Dunn's place when he is dealt (I figured this would be the case, it made no sense for them to call up Kearns without an available slot for him to play in).

I'm certain this will go down. Like I said in the original message, my source has never been wrong and he said he's sure this will happen, so there's no doubt in my mind that this deal will be announced sometime between now and tomorrow evening. I'm going to call him a little later and see if he has any more info to tell me. If he does, I'll post it here.

Methinks you protest just a bit too much. Previous posts end with identification as a Cardinals fan, and laughing at the Cubs' fans who fell for the gag as being "desperate." Your post is too similar to the other hoaxes in multiple respects for me to believe otherwise. OK, those are previous posts, not mine. I'm a die hard Cubs fan, and again, I'm just passing this info along.

Sure, I'll try, but what do you want me to ask him? For one thing, a little bit more analysis of the possible deal from your friend might really go a long ways in returning some confidence. Maybe you could ask him what would still have to happen to get a deal finalized. Like, are the players finalized, with just a few minor details left? Or are they just talking? Is there any chance that the Cubs would go for Kearns if the Dunn deal falls through? OK, I'll contact him and see what else he knows...The players are finalized, and they should announce it today or tomorrow, but I'll ask him to make sure that there are no parts of this deal yet to be completed.

Assuming you are telling the truth, I have this to say: just don't worry about what people think of you right now. Later on, if you're proven right, they'll all like you just fine :). And like others have said, even if a deal doesn't come, that doesn't mean you're a troll, and as long as you stick around and particpate as a regular member, no one will hold this against you. I just wanted to address this fanzone guy: I can understand why you think I'm a troll, because I realize there are trolls on other boards who do the exact same thing...but, as I said, this is NOT my intention. No, I'm not e-mailing people telling them what I've done...I'm sure my friends wouldn't care if I started a rumor on an internet message board that wasn't true, and I'm not getting a good laugh from getting people's hopes up. Isn't this the same deal Vance spoke from his Astros source OML Toss in Troy Patton and you got that exact deal. I assue this poster can read, so I wouldn't use that as confirmation. Sorry but he didn't go into any in-depth details about this deal, but it's interesting to note that about a week ago he told me the Reds proposed a deal involving Dunn to the Astros for Jason Lane and Brandon Backe that the Astros turned down, so apparently the Reds at least wanted an ML-ready OF if they were going to deal away Dunn. I posted on ESPN under the name nolimits3 for a short time, but I mostly just lurked.

OK, I have something to report regarding the Cubs and Reds working out a possible deal for Adam Dunn. Before I post it, I just want to say that yes, I am a new poster here and this is my first post, and I know how a lot of times you will see people come on boards across the internet and report a false news item in order to get people's hopes up and then have a laugh at it. This is NOT my intention at all. I've been on the ESPN and Cubs.com boards and I know how annoying trolls can be when they do that kind of stuff...I would NEVER do that. So, let me proceed: I have a friend who works for the Cincinnati Reds. This guy isn't exactly a high-ranking official for the Reds or anything like that, but he usually has access to information from the organization and I might add that he has been right on a few of the Reds moves in the past. He told me Austin Kearns would be demoted a few hours before it became official, and also knew about the Reds inking Joe Randa to a contact a day before that happened, so I consider him very reliable..he hasn't been wrong yet. I talked to him a couple hours ago, and I am so pumped because of what he told me, I could hardly believe it. He says he has heard that there is a deal between the Reds and Cubs that should be completed and should become official within the next 48 hours. Here is what the deal will be: The Cubs get: Adam Dunn The Reds get: Corey Patterson, Rich Hill, Sergio Mitre Again, I know some people might not believe this since I'm a new poster, but I would NEVER make anything up like this, I just don't troll. If I end up being wrong, the mods can ban me if they feel the need to, but my source said he is certain this will go down, and he hasn't been wrong before, so there's no doubt in my mind it'll happen.
