Based on what?  The big question is how long it takes for swelling to go down.  The facial fractures suck, but that isn't an injury that is really at risk of someone aggravating by playing baseball.  So I would think as soon as the swelling goes down enough and his vision is clear, he would be able to play.  Is that in 7 days or 15 days, I have no idea, but any timeframes are pure speculation.

This team was robbed of a World Series by lacerated fingers from falling objects, toys that may or may not effect their home field advantage with Jordan wicks pissing games away, neck injuries to your promising young starting pitcher, and the second time ever that a foul ball hit someone’s face in the on deck circle, to our second most important player, a week before the playoffs, again, if he doesn’t come back.

Based on multiple fractures. And the fact they said “hope” to be back in the playoffs. They didn’t say WC round. Maybe if they win a couple of series he could be back in 2 weeks. But hoping for better than that is just wishful thinking IMO.

The question will be, how will they be able to protect the fractures around the eye

Do they have a mask that can go over the eyes without it interfering with his vision, especially when he bats

Do they really need to?  It isn't the NBA where guys are throwing elbows under the basket.  As long as he doesn't slide headfirst into a base, the chances of any further contact to the face are incredibly low.

Typical healing timeframe for an injury like this? Google says 6-8 weeks, i was being on the optimistic side that he comes back early and plays through it.

We should know tomorrow if/when they put Bregman on the IL.

The problem is (and I don't know how to say this without sounding like I'm victim blaming), is that Bregman was nowhere near the on deck circle. He was like 25 feet closer to home plate that the on deck circle. Why is that allowed?

Whoa.  I'm looking at the Cincy Logo that's painted in that first photo, and Bregman's left foot (in batting stance) is lined up with the "top of the C."  I know there's factoring for angles and such, but that looks really really close.  😬

He was not 25 ft closer. Maybe 5 ft closer. And no different than any other player stands. It was just an unfortunate accident.

It was AT LEAST 10 feet.  And I don't think anyone is saying he's the only one doing it.  But 10 feet is still 10 feet, and the circle is there for a reason.  This is just an eye opener that MLB needs to start enforcing that an on deck batter needs to be within x feet of the circle.

To borrow from "Football Manager"/"Championship Manager", I'd definitely rate Bregman's "Determination" as a 20 of 20.  As much as I respect it - it's so much to believe that 1)come back at all for any postseason play, 2)even if he did, is trajekt enough to get him back up to game speed much less any understandable mental fear/yips when the opposing pitcher fires a fastball up and in on him?  

Not trying to be a downer, but at this point, we just gotta assume it's gonna be Shaw/Ramirez and hope those dudes can catch fire.

That's not 5 feet. The warning track is around 12-15 feet wide, and he's another 8-10 feet into the grass

They’re not going to address it for the same reason that there’s not netting in front of the dugouts even though every stadium has netting all the way down the line. The players, knowing the risks, don’t want it.
