I was just about to say Miz needs

to get over 90 pitches otherwise he’s going to the 7th. And then the next pitch Nico hits into a double play at 86 pitches FFS

think I might actually hate nico. did the one thing he couldn’t do if you’re trying to get mis out of the game. horsefeathers terrible.

Good challenge, Lara.

Murphy’s probably telling Lara “son, just be happy you’re here.”

Ok, I keep hearing that a relief pitcher HAS to be able to pitch back to back days to be useful and I'm getting a little tired of that narrative.

There are 8+ guys in a bullpen.  Is it really that critical that every single guy has to be able to pitch back to back?  I understand that ideally everyone in the pen is available everyday, but that seems to be oversimplifying things a bit.  I think you can afford to carry a reliever that can't pitch back to back if they can be a productive pitcher once every 2-3 days.

You don't have to have an entire bullpen of guys who have to pitch every night, but the Cubs pen is in a weird place where you can only hop so many landmines at once. And I say this as someone who's been pro-Miller.
1. He got bombed on his second go of a back-to-back and he barely pitched the first game (one hitter).
2. If you need to pussyfoot around Miller's usage, it helps if you have a bullpen you trust. It's pretty hard to avoid Miller on back to backs, while also avoid Caleb Thielbar or Trent Thonrton outside of curated spots, while also having three longmen who aren't really leverage arms, while also figuring out when to throw Zef and Palencia...

It's a quagmire and right now, it's probably best to give Miller a few more days while you hope a few of these guys right the ship before you bring up Steele and Miller who will add in a lot of other usage questions.

so glad Mis got a freebie strike on 3-0 that changes the entire AB and possibly inning

Good news is we have both our challenges left and will probably still have in the 9th
