I'll just just drop this here:

“This has been a wake-up call,” Taillon said. “I hope for everyone, it definitely has been for me. Nothing’s going to be handed to us, and the Brewers are for real again. They’re a very good team. Our division’s really good. The league’s really tough, and it’s just going to take a lot of work to dig ourselves out of this. Obviously, it’s a great group of guys that work really hard, but I definitely think it’s been a wake-up call. I mean, I know it has been for me, for sure.”

So the 10 game losing streak and 5-16 record before last night's game wasn't a wake-up call? I know there's an ebb and flow to a 162 game schedule... but geez!

Come on. I think it's apparent he's talking about the losing streak in it's entirety. He's giving that quote because it was his night to pitch. I know it sucks right now, but there's only so much that can be said by them outside of quotes like that when they are in this type of funk.

Again... I totally understand the ebb and flow of a 162 game season. But a 10 game losing streak should have been a wake-up call. They've been sleep-walking for more than 3 weeks,

TBD will probably shut out the Cobs

That's such a lame takeaway

Not when expectations are high.

ETA: Not my expectations... the expectations as a team.

Nothing he said, nor the timing of the comment, suggests that the 10-game losing streak was being discounted here.

It would make more sense to critique the guys who aren't saying anything than the guy who said it...too late?

Also, no, that doesn't make sense either. Be frustrated, and be pleased that a vet is taking some public accountability for your frustrations

Hoerner’s OPS down below 700. What a disaster he has been at the plate during the last 25 games.

i'm all for crazy takes but this is ridiculous. there's no way he would have played if he had concussion symptoms

Nobody is saying they ignored symptoms, they're saying he's been bad since he got beaned and there might be underlying stuff that's causing problems resulting in the slump.  The Yankees didn't ignore symptoms per se, but Rizzo certainly could have used an IL stint to get right and based on the numbers, it's hard to argue that's not the case with Nico.

Opponent pitching has no impact on how dogass this lineup is tbh.

He might not have a concussion but it seems like the pitch knocked his eyeballs crooked (medically speaking).

Remember before the season everyone thought we were a 90 win team and the Brewers were going to finally regress?

What are we now, in your opinion? Personally I never thought the brewers would regress. I assume they are going to be good every year. I did think the Cubs were a low 90 win team. Injuries have caused me to lower that expectation. But I do think they can win 87-80. So again, what is your projection?
Posters here act like they never watched baseball before. So they have a bad streak. That means they suck and will be lucky to play .500 ball? Bad streaks happen every year. It happened last year too and they won 92 games. I am more concerned about the injuries they had lessening my expectations than I am the recent poor play. They are better than they played in May.

You can never count out the Brewers.  We should assume they'll be good unless they show regression on the field.  We still have a chance for the division but it's not trending well, the Brewers look like they haven't skipped a beat from last year.

I was never convinced they were a 90 win team.  High 80s seemed right, and still does depending on injuries.  Some guys were due to regress a bit offensively.  My opinion on the position side hasn't changed at all since March.  I agree that one month of slumps doesn't change anything.

Shota had been terrible to finish the year, Tailon and Rea were going to be a year older. Cabrera was promising and still is but it was unknown what we'd get from him with the walks and he's also had arm issues, Boyd was pitched into the ground last year and would be a year older  Steele was also an unknown.  So the rotation was the biggest unknown, as I guess it usually is for most teams these days.
