i wonder how many teams have had a 10+ game winning streak and a 10+ game losing streak in the same season. I know the 2017 Dodgers did. But it can’t be that common.

I know it has been argued back and forth that, whether accumulated on offense or defense, all WAR is equal.

But after watching the Cubs offense every year post-2016, I refuse to believe it. A bunch of average offensive players who are great defensively are not as valuable as a bunch of great hitters who are average defensively.

The problem with that theory is that they've legitimately been awful on defense during this losing streak. Right on cue with that error.

I think it is harder to find offense than defense.  Most offensive players flame out because they can't hit.  How many good offensive players don't make it because they can't field? Has there been one?    There's a bit of buffer because of the DH but if you can hit you'll find a place to play.  I think there are many good defensive players that never make the majors because they can't hit.

I don't thinks its a case of offense/defense being created equal or not.  It's harder to find offense.

The Cubs have to have like a 5% success rate scoring runs when they get the first 2 hitters on in an inning during this losing streak.

Something tells me these guys would struggle scoring off of Wicks if he was pitching for the Pirates tonight 🙄😂

When your closer is pitching in the 7th inning of a gsme you’re losing 9-1 (now 10-1) things are either going very well or very poorly.

I just don't see how someone isn't getting fired after tonight. In a year you claim to be a championship contender, to go out and lose 10 in a row is completely unacceptable.

It's easy to see how no one will get fired when you realize that the Ricketts don't give a fuuck

Things continue like they are and in a week or two, the talk of the town is going to a baseball team that isn't the Cubs. While it wont mean anything major, it would have to at least hurt his pride a little one would think.

Give it 2-3 weeks and the Ricketts can hide behind the World Cup and hope fewer people care about Baseball during that period.

I get feeling Alex Cohen reads “ Baseball for dummies” and then comes into the booth. He really has a “Huh? I did not know that.” reaction to any historical anecdote JD discusses.
