Seriously lol - Shota had 3-4 solid starts. He’s our “Ace” by default, so I think it’s fair to say, this season’s outlook is bleak to say it nicely

Yeah. Small ball is the Cubs issue. Let’s talk about getting those ground ball singles up the middle while the opponent hits 3+ homers off our starting pitchers. Slug ball is hurting the offense.

This is our ace(?)(!)

I mean if everyone is healthy he’s probably our 5th starter after Horton, Steele, Cabrera and Boyd. But they’re all on the IL

When you get runners on base but can move them across the plate that’s an issue - small ball comes in handy at certain times. They sure as hell aren’t hitting for slug either lol.

How about we agree on this: there is a horsefeathers ton wrong with this team? More than small ball or slugging

I know that the offense has been dog horsefeathers but there’s not one pitcher on this staff who can accidentally hold a team scoreless for 7 innings and win a game by a 3-2 score?

Nope, this current rotation is dogshit, I dont recall ever seeing a rotation that struggles to get through 5 innings as much as this one does.

The bats can put 5 on the board early and it wouldn't be safe.

Gotta wonder if Craig is gonna take the fall for this

I don’t like the guy but its hard to blame the manager when he’s got 1 big leaguer in the rotation and a hyperbolically bad lineup

I stressed caution for much of this streak.  And obviously they are going to play better, but this feels like something worse than just a slump.

I agree. I don’t think managers make as much of a difference as the casual fan assumes either. But we stupidly resigned Jed, so wondering if that will be the desperation move.

No 2024 Imanaga, 2023 Justin Steele or 2025 Mathew Boyd this year

If they shitt bricks against the Pirates and Cardinals this week he should,  but I doubt Ricketts will just eat his contract

I’d think Dustin Kelly would be the first casualty.

Seiya needs a week off. Maybe an IL stint and then he can come back hot again.

Unfortunately somebody has to pitch, obviously 29 other teams wouldn’t even have a pitcher like him rostered.

I mean we haven’t tried pitching him yet. Maybe that would be the difference maker. Do you think he throws a knuckleball?
