Still think it overreacting?

Yes. It’s baseball. We do this every year. Teams hit then don’t. It happens. Yet every year some posters overreact.

Well saying you hope they get better this series to not just beat the Braves but also the Sox isnt overreacting it hoping they snap out of it, that what I originally said.

They definitely didn't snap out of it today

a 3 game sample size is always an overreaction in baseball

Some of these guys have been cold longer than 3 games

Your initial comment wasn’t bad, actually. You were just saying they need to start hitting. But you did double down after today’s game to suggest after 3 games there might be a problem. Some guys struggled before then but that is pretty normal. Not all players hit all the time. Before this last 3 games they won 10 in a row. How bad could they have possibly been doing?

Against, chibear. That is baseball. Guys slump. How bad could they have been doing. They won 10 in a row.

When ? When i asked the poster who mentioned it was overreacting with my original comment if I was still overreacting to them being cold after a 1 hit game ?

That not doubling down, and it not an overreaction, id like to see them snap out of it before the Sox series, cause I'd hate to see them go there and lay an egg.

There was a stretch where the 2016 Cubs went 6-15 before the All Star Break, including a 3 game sweep against the Cards and a 4 game sweep against the Mets.

I don't take issue with wondering when certain guys are going to snap out of their slumps, but let's back off the ledge a bit.

If this is referring to me, I was never on a ledge, my original post was just that I hope they can snap back out of it before the Sox series simply because I hate losing to the Whitesox.

Others have twisted it into me panicking and overreacting to these last 3 games 🤷😂

If they can go between 5-5 and 6-4 the rest of way, ill be ok and happy cause thatll get them between 60 to 70 more wins the rest of way for around 90+ wins total.

If it helps any, I am on another forum where a Dodgers fan posts and he’s been complaining about Shohei Ohtani being in a hitting slump for what seems like the last 2-3 weeks.

So, if a 4 time MVP in the large part due to his hitting can have an extended slump, anyone can slump. Do we feel better now? No? Okay! 😞

Man I feel like it's Groundhog Day. We've probably had this discussion every year this board has been around.  Every team slumps, every team surges, but not many teams surge like the stretch the Cubs just finished.

What a time that was on PSD during that slump. I remember in Game 7 when the lead went from 6-3 to 6-6 and I emphatically pronounced “I don’t care if we lose!”.

I thought that’ll show ‘ em.

Guess he wont be a 5 time MVP with this extended slump 🤷😂

Let's look at the bright side.  The Dodgers lost something like 9 of last 13 games..  Yamamoto has given up 2 times more HR's than Shota has this year.😁

The Padres are losing, too.

The issue here is the pitching staff can’t pick up a slumping offense. 11 of their last 21 wins the opponents have scored at least 4 runs  i expect the bats to wake up again but I don’t see any improvement from the pitching staff until they regain health and or trade for a top of rotation starting pitcher now that the cupcakes are off the schedule.

It would be nice if Busch can pick up his 15 home run pace.

The Sox aren't a division opponent,  they aren't even an NL opponent. Besides that, they will top out at 75 wins in the worst division in baseball.

The problem is they’re playing well and their fans are insufferable douche bags. It might be irrational to to be more invested in a 3 game series on the southside than any other inter league opponent, but nothing about being a sports fan is rational.

This is pretty much same lineup that slumped most of second half last season,  only difference is Bregman over Tucker, Bregman hasn't done much so far, and Ballesteros over Shaw.

Not sure why you left the first half of last year out since it was also the same lineup, or the first month of this year. Since the beginning of last year the Cubs have the 3rd highest wRC and the 2nd most offensive fWAR.

If you want to stick with your overly pessimistic date range, from July 1 of last year till now we're 7th in wRC and 3rd in fWAR.

The offense is good.

I'm surprised when I see comments like this.  The majority of us live in or near the city of Chicago, are we not supposed to take an interest when the 2 Chicago teams play each other?  They are absolutely our rivals lol.  And I'd bet most Cubs + Sox fans would agree to that.  It would piss me off if the White Sox won a WS more than if the Cincinnatti Reds did.

I agree. But tbh, it is irrational.
In the next 8 games if someone told me the Cubs would go 4-4, I know the rational POV would be to hope the Cubs split with the Braves and swept the Brewers. But that would mean they got swept by the white sox. While I realize that would be the best outcome of a 4-4 stretch, that is also tough to live with knowing the Sox swept them. But that is absolutely what any fan should choose if that was their options. How many would?

Very few haha.  Those bragging rights are important 😂

IMO, the Cubs Sox rivalry would be much more obvious if both teams were ever +.500 at the same time.  I can only remember maybe 2 or 3 seasons out of my entire life watching baseball where both teams were playoff contenders at the same time.
