This division is there to be won this year, but this squad isn’t going any further. Just too many holes.

Is it too early to hope that another Palencia is bopping around the minors somewhere?

Owen Caissie hit a walk off for the Marlins in case anyone is keeping score on that one

I want a do-over on that one.  With Happ and Suzuki soon to be FAs, Caissie would look great in LF.

It’s probably a good thing I’ve only spot-watched this series in between other activities.  Lots of overreaction bait to be had here.

Makes it easy to see who to put on the ignore list

It is too early. We’ve seen this before, a rough start for the pen then they figure it out. Plus, the Cubs have been pretty decent at building the pen on the fly.

Not how you want to start a season with high expectations obviously, pitching and hitting both straight up not good, but at least Shota only got nuked the one time and Bregman looks as advertised. Atleast they got a win.

Definitely let's have a do-over before the stud pitcher we traded him for throws a horsefeathers pitch for the Cubs

That is a wild thing to say given how Cabrera is looking like 1 of 2 not awful SP on the team.

Cabrera has only 1 season where he's pitched over 100 IP, he will never be a workhorse guy that can log 180 IP or 200 IP in a season.  Essentially, they are gambling on him being elite elite for the 5 innings that he will pitch every 5 days.  He's got great stuff but the results haven't been there consistently, and he's a constant durability concern.

He's prime Sonny Gray on his best day and more like Javier Assad on his worst.  Heck of a price tag for a 27 year old who hasn't figured it out yet.

I love Owen Caissie more than anyone, but "hell of a price tag" was a borderline top-50 prospect, let's pump the brakes, man. Owen Caissie has plenty of swing and miss in his game. And we should know better than to flip out about prospects that get traded and their first month of action.

Cabrera is a bit of a risk, but was in a bad pitching org for much of his career. The Marlins are on the right track there right now, and they started to really figure it out last year (also coincides with his best run).

So how about we take a deep breath right now. Maybe Caissie is a star and Cabrera sucks. Or maybe Caissie runs a 30% K rate and doesn't figure it out and Cabrera turns into a solid SP. We have no idea. Hot take statements can make you look real silly in the count of a few weeks when we're talking the first weekend and when one of them hasn't thrown a pitch yet.

That is 100 innings where I don’t have to watch Taillon and Shota throw batting practice, that is invaluable beyond description.
