Two straight WBC Final losses by a score of 3-2 in Miami for Team USA. That’s got to be frustrating.

Next time play the final at a real Baseball stadium like Wrigley Field.

Would have been a little wet from all the snow that melted in the 34 degree sun today.

Of course this problem is solved by doing group play in spring training and then making the ASB the whole week and doing the actual knockout tournament in July.

I still recall being in a cab in Chicago on my first day and the driver explaining how brutally cold in gets in the winter to the point where you can barely leave your front door. It made me feel cold, and it was summer.

Its pretty crazy to me that a pitcher with 50 career innings is gonna start the title game of the WBC

But ultimately it was the lack of hitting, not the pitching that cost the U.S. this one.  Much like the Cubs game 5 vs. Milwaukee.   We saw pitchers you would reasonably expect we could do some damage on and we just didn't.   In both cases.

Extremely common in other sports with legitimate and longstanding international competition, this is only an issue if you are actively looking for something to be upset about.

It's dumb when they do it too

Also: who is upset? I think it's great these dumb dildos lost, especially to Venezuela, and them being a bunch of brats about it makes it even better.

This isn’t really fair. There is no way an American player can win over some people in this country. If they are all rah rah people look at them as entitled asshats drinking the America kool aid. If they act like it isn’t that big a deal then other rip them for being unpatriotic or losing because they just don’t have the same drive the other countries have, to win. I wanted USA to win. But I am happy for the Venezuela team, as well. It was a fun tournament and USA just couldn’t close the deal. I have no issue with them being disappointed they lost. Venezuela deserved the championship. They beat both, US and Japan. Good for them.

Like, the US team could have just gone out there and had a good time, like all the other actually enjoyable teams, but instead they approached the whole thing with this overly serious, troop-humping nonsense that made it 10000000000000000% better when they lost.

Yeah, of course these guys are going to hate being the runner-up. But in the run-up to being the runner-up they acted like miserable horsefeatherss who were too good to be there in the first place.

The Pinstripe Alley article you posted sort of gets at this, but look at Team Italy.  The team was mostly American but still managed to have loads of fun and become the darlings of the tournament.  Oh, and not for nothing but on talent they probably shouldn't have made it as far as they did yet they were in the semifinals, so clearly the positive vibes didn't hurt them on the field.

No one is happy in this country except maybe one person and his personal grift factory. He sets the tone. He's a lout, a dry drunk, an ignoramus who glories in his own stupidity. And so was it with this team, blasting Toby Keith and talking about destroying every team, because that's who we are as Americans. And on and on.

And don't confuse this with hating America. I served this country as a Peace Corps volunteer because that's what we should stand for. We should strive to fulfill the ideas embedded in the Constitution and all the other things we say we stand for. So all you MAGA humpers and lurkers who are afraid to really say what you mean can piss off.

I read that too fast and thought Team USA brought in Al Bundy to talk to the team.

With social media and YouTube etc we see a lot more from players than we used to, every little story can be shared . Some players seem really nice, like Seiya, Matthew Boyd etc. and others act like clowns and typical jocks.

A hyper-competitive tournament will bring out the clown in the clowns.  Disappointed in some of the behaviour of a bunch of players.  They're not only representing their countries but the sport also.
