I look forward to getting some sort of strange, obscure cancer from attending a Bears game in an abandoned steel mill

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to get another new stadium after 20 years

For many people who go to Bears games Hammond is just as close to them as Arlington Heights.

Based on Bears own statements (and a basic density/wealth population map would support this logically), the majority of fans will travel much further to get to Hammond.

I still don’t believe them

Nobody does, which is why I assume this is a last ditch effort to build some leverage.  Maybe if they REALLY start the process of moving to Indiana, then they will force someone into action to keep them in Illinois.  It may or may not work.  If it doesn't work, they may very well end up in Indiana even though they don't actually want to be there.

If they are still selling out all the games, do they really care though?

No. And if the season ticket waiting list goes from 30 years to 15, also no.

But in a bad year, it will be interesting to see. Traditionally a cold as hell SF has done a decent dent keeping away fans from investing in a bad team at seasons end. I honestly don't know what a bad team in a dome in a dumpy hard to get to area does, but it might be worse.

Also there are some simple economic issues with the NWI deal. Some of the new slew of taxes do hit the Bears indirectly (like amusement taxes). Sold out stadium with same revenue? Not so sure that's the case.

Of course ring wing media is running crazy with the idea of Bears leaving deep blue Illinois for deep Red Indiana, etc. etc.

Oh you can't touch the political discourse on this. It's all stupid. Darren Bailey made a post that state should make Bears rebuild Arlington Racetrack lmao

I'm surprised the downstate GOP isn't crowing more about killing the PILOT bill as a multi-billion dollar giveaway to DEI woke public housing developers.

This just feels like upping the leverage meter to the red.

I'll laugh my ass off if they build a stadium in the hell hole, toxic dump that is Hammond IN. That would be the most epic fail in NFL history forever. I already decided a few years ago that I've gone to my last NFL game, so I really don't care what stadium they play in while I watch on TV.

Not to get this to be too political, but it is very funny the GOP is making shoveling hundreds of millions of dollars to a billionaire family (with almost nothing in return!) as a huge political "win" for them

If Pritz was worried about losing the election over this he would have pushed to work with the Bears. This is a last ditch bluff by the Bears
