Wiggins going back?

I'd be more shocked by this then Shaw. The farm without Wiggins is almost entirely bereft of pitching.

I can see it, but I really hope not.  This team has next to nothing on the farm behind Wiggins on the pitching side of things.

Yeah, I think it has to be Caissie plus.  I would have rather it been Shaw as the main piece, for various reasons, but I doubt that will be the case.

Perfect landing spot for Shaw. He can hang out at Mar a Lago on off days

Yeah maybe but that can't hold up a deal. His value as trade capital as a top 100 centerfielder prospect is way higher than his value as backup outfielder forever blocked by PCA.

If they want him, go sign Willi Castro or Tauchman or whatever. Or teach Shaw to fake it.

Yeah, he's definitely not a deal breaker, but I also don't think they're actively shopping him as a piece either.

I'm guessing Caissie, Long or Rojas, and lower level things.

That feels a bit light to me, but I'll take it.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Assad in there as well.

You're putting a lot of trust in Jesse Rogers

Meh, we are so short on pitching prospects that it just logically doesn't make sense to move Wiggins. This is just more evidence to support that if you had doubts.

Assad being in there would track. Or Wicks.

I hope not. I'm back on the other end of the pendulum. Keep Wicks and Assad as your depth starters, go trade Taillon.

I irrationally want to keep Ben Brown. I still think he has that mid rotation or more upside.

100% irrational 🤣

I think the Cubs should be okay, generally speaking, depth wise. You'll have: Cabrera, Horton, Shota, Taillon, Boyd, Rea, Wiggins to kick off the year. Steele coming later. And you'd still have Brown, Wicks or Assad (who isn't traded) and Noland. The Cubs will probably have the innings.

2027 would be a little murkier but you'd still have Cabrera, Horton, Wiggins, and hopefully good FA wiggle room.

LET'S GO!!!  Finally I've been waiting for this since July

Caissie and one of Assad/Brown/Wicks is the logical bulk of a deal.  Probably someone else that will sting but not make us apoplectic.  E.g. Kepley.

This also means we should put a hell of a lot more stock into the Bichette/Bregman stuff.

I have less confidence in him as a starter, but I still see him as a potential high leverage bullpen arm.  Especially when much of the pen still lacks velocity, he could fill that gap.

I would like to keep him as well but I think hes got late inning shut down reliever upside instead of mor upside.

I want to keep Ben, too, but as a reliever/swingman.

Well one of those names is probably gone in this right? Either Taillon or a Wicks/Assad.

Wiggins is fun. Wiggins threw 78 innings last year and 9 at AAA. I wouldn't put him in the 'kicking off the year' group.

Give me Cabrera/Horton/Shota/Boyd/ST competition to start the year, with the loser being your long reliever and Brown being your 2 inning fireman.

If he's going to remain primarily a two pitch pitcher then yeah, but I feel like he's a passable third pitch away from being quite good.

I always believed that if the Cubs got Cabrera , Cassie / Long would go the other way.

Horton threw less then that the year before, so while I wouldn't jump directly to Wiggins in, say,. May, I also wouldn't really count him out. I'd expect Colin Rea to be the first guy up, anyways.

I can't see them trading Taillon given that Steele is going to be out for a bit. If Anything, going the 6 pitcher rotation is great to limit innings on Boyd, Horton and Cabrera.
