Right now there's smear articles bring written about him saying he doesn't love baseball and that's why teams aren't willing to commit big

I'd be scared of another Anthony Rendon too if I was an MLB exec.

Rojas is reminiscent of Gleyber Torres when he was dealt to the Yankees for Chapman.  He's a really fun prospect who's easy to dream on, but far enough down the minors that you pull the trigger if he gets you a substantial upgrade at the major league level.

I'd say Gleyber always had the size and athleticism to dream of being a top 10 prospect (and major league shortstop, initially at least) that Rojas lacks.

If all goes well and there’s minimal injuries in the rotation they’d be 7 deep when Steele returns. Would flipping Taillon be a possibility to free up space for Tucker on a reasonable shorter term high AAV deal?l with opt outs? He’s a better roster fit than an infielder.

Depth can disappear quickly. I think you should hold on to all your starters and re-asses at the TDL

There are two types of pitchers: (1) those who have had Tommy John surgery; and (2) those who haven't had Tommy John surgery... yet.

Cabrera does have a more checkered injury history but that's likely baked into his trade value.

He's got 3 years left, I assume he'll blow out and miss 1 of them. But that's what's nice about him having 3 more years under contract.

The point is, where is there proof he doesn't like baseball? It's just meathead horsefeathers because he's very quiet and reserved, especially when he's on a team with very out going people like PCA/Shota

I meant to say flip him in the offseason or really any movable pitcher. It’s a risk but to make Tucker a possibility then trading a pitcher seems like the route to go. I just used him as an example since he’s the most tradable to stay under the LT.

He got booed off the field in a game during the second half. Also had an atrociously lazy attempt to “run” down a pretty routine fly ball in the walkoff loss in Miami.

I mean, he was clearly injured and played through it.

Exactly.

Bunch of cry babies its hilarious. If you are that mad about a professional athlete being right wing you might want to find a new hobby because I would say a majority of them are.

The Cubs are finally doing something interesting, don't turn this into a Matt Shaw thread. Go back to the old thread for that horsefeathers if you want.

Hoyer talked ad nauseum about not liking the prices at the deadline for SP's and depth in the rotation. I don't think they're moving Taillon for money if they move Asaad. Nor at the deadline.

Yeah, I'd guess there isn't anything imminent on the FA front. The Cubs don't feel like a team who jumps the market and jumping the Bichette/Tucker/Bregman/Bellinger quagmire doesn't feel like them.

That said, with the game of musical chairs currently, it feels like the team isn't going to sit it out entirely and will make real plays here (I think more on the infielders).

I kind of feel like it's one of two extremes.  Either:

A) Bregman/Bichette are very much in the endgame right now and we're going to know by the weekend

or

B) Nothing is even sort of close.  Jed's going to do the staring match thing he loves and try and get the best deal he can on a $25-30M player in February.  With Cabrera in the fold the roster is complete enough but also malleable enough that he can kinda fit whoever

I know they’re not trading a pitcher at the deadline. I didn’t word it properly.

No, you worded it fine. I was just saying - the Cubs aren't going to trade Taillon at any point. I think he's here for the year. They might move a depth piece like Assad, but someone who's Taillon good probably won't be sold for savings now that they have enough money to sign a bat to almost whatever and stay under the LT.
