What must it be like to shop at the top of the free agent market? I vaguely remember that feeling in 2015-2016 but since then it  has been living in the 2nd and 3rd tiers and dumpster diving the retreads.

Yeah ,  that deal has a bunch of deferrals as well . I am pissed about this , but not surprised .   
 

There were a lot of cuts today at Marquee as well .  Feeling a bit uneasy now tbh .  Hopefully not a sign of things to come in terms of spending

Sigh. I probably would have done that deal. 

Here's to hoping they can either retain Keller or grab Fairbanks. Either would help complete the back end of the bullpen.

i think it's more about which players have signed. cease, helsley, and devin williams were all rumored cubs targets, and they all signed for reasonable deals (except maybe helsley)

Yeah thats a great deal. Pretty telling about how Hoyer will operate this offseason. That Cerami report of them going big game fishing for another reliever seems to be a lot of malarkey at this point.

I don’t think the report is malarkey, I think the FO has a limit and the limit is always too low to reel in a big fish. I also think the definition of “big fish” is a reliever they may give multi years to. So think Fairbanks, Keller, Finnegan, Rogers, Weaver. I am certain big fish does not include Suarez or Diaz.
