Man I hate the new expanded conferences.

This isn’t a shot at aTm, they can only play who is on their schedule.

Of their 8 conference games, 6 or 7 are against unranked teams (Missouri is ranked in the coaches poll but unranked in the AP). And Texas could end up unranked as well if they lose to Georgia and aTm.

Maybe they’re the best team in the conference. But it’s dumb that they might be in the SEC title game solely because of the schedule. And yes, credit to them for scheduling at Notre Dame. Good win.

Count Missouri and Texas as ranked. aTm has 2 ranked conference games. Bama has 5. Georgia has 4 (plus Georgia Tech). Ole Miss also only has 2, though at least one of them was at Georgia. But lump them in with aTm if you want to

This stuff is going to happen every year and it sucks. Indiana last year likely made the playoff because they only had to play 1 of the other 4 ranked Big 10 teams.

Well there is the SEC championship game so we will have to play one “real” conference opponent. At Texas and at LSU looked like killer games at the start of the season. Plus as you mentioned, we went on the road and beat top ten ND. A&M deserves to be where we are.

For sure. Like I said, not a shot at them specifically. Just sucks that they don’t play any of the other three current top-10 teams in the conference in the regular season at least.

Texas is currently back in the top ten but not likely to be there after the Georgia game this weekend. By the way, our schedule is tougher than Ohio State’s or Indiana’s.

HEY ... HEY ... HEY ... you two need to sit down and be quiet!!!

Stop trying to burst my Indiana fandom bubble with truth, facts and logic.

But on a seriously note, long term I think this is better for college football. The thinning of the schedules along with the transfer portal and NIL plus the expanded playoff give all the power four teams a legit pathway to the postseason.

For the most part teams like Ohio St, Alabama, Georgia, etc. will still get their fair share of top talent but they won't be able to hog all of it.

To your point, Ohio State will not play a ranked opponent in conference besides Michigan. Indiana's only one was Oregon. Ole Miss, just to show I'm not picking on the B1G, is finishing the season with 3 non-bowl-eligible SEC teams and an FCS opponent.

This stuff is going to happen every year. It was so easy to see coming.

In the latest rankings, Notre Dame is 9, Texas is 10 and Miami is 15. All 3 are 7-2.

Notre Dame has the best losses, by a combined 4 points to two teams that are a combined 16-2 and ranked 3 and 15. Their only ranked win is by 10 over #17 USC.

Texas lost to No. 1 on the road but also lost to a 3-6 Florida team. They have two ranked wins over 11 and 14.

Miami lost to 19 and unranked SMU (though they’re 7-3 this year). They have 2 ranked wins over 9 and 24. They also beat Florida by 19

So why is Miami 5 or 6 spots lower besides “well they lost more recently”? Not necessarily saying Miami should be ahead of either or both of those teams. But I just don’t see a 5-6 spot difference.

It is curious.  I'd have to really dig into why.  The interesting thing is that the composite of the computers show similarly, although they have Texas down with Miami.  But yeah, whether you have a 1-2 spot difference or a 6 spot, all those teams would currently be in the same tier IMO.  Notre Dame and Miami both have @Pitt games left, so that should be a nice late season comparison for the committee.

Fair or not, I have a feeling Miami is being penalized for 2 losses in what has turned out to be a terrible ACC this year.

I didn’t know you could be that stressed while high AF. I had to start watching late due to an appointment. The recording ran out with 2:36 left in the game. At least we won.

Can anyone make the arguement that #18 Michigan is not one of the more overrated teams in college football?

Their offense is very inconsistent.  I still wouldnt be surprised if they beat OSU

#18 seems about right. Who below them screams out to you? The ACC** & BIG 12** are trash and the teams in the group of 5 don't have anyone to make the case for.

** Miami, Texas Tech etc are already ranked ahead of them.

And the local cops are not taking it well.

That was a state trooper, the tiniest of tiny dick pigs. And he was relieved of his game day duties after this.
